You guys are forgetting that last year, at a photography-related event, Apple bumped the PowerBooks. That was the event where they introduced Aperture. If it happened before, it could happen again!

Since windows phones will be the dreaded free phone, I can see how this will happen.

Why is U2 so big with iPods anyways? The only group to have their own iPod.
(I don't mean to be disrespectful to the U2 fanboys out there)

Okay, so now all I have to do is hope for SATA 3 SSD connections and the prices to drop to i5 @ $1699 and i7 @ $1999. Some REAL good GPUs and more standard ram.
I hate to say it but I'll keep holding off if the interface connections don't start jumping up in spec. It's retarded to see Thunderbolt and no SATA 3 or USB 3. It will a (re)selling point later on when you're looking to sell it off for the next new one.
ThunderBolt to USB 3.0 adapters do exist. And it's not in direct view so it doesn't really matter how the connection looks....

Yes of course it can, you obviously don't understand what x86_64 is.
No need to be rude. I was just asking a question!

Anyone else voting that they drop the price on the BlackBook to match the white MB? What are the chances, eh?

Kind of a huge gap, don'cha think? For an extra $100 I can nearly TRIPLE the capacity? Why would I even consider a 30 GB model?
A lot of people just don't need the bigger capacity. And it's still thinner, right??
I would buy a 30GB if I was in the market (which I'm not) for a new iPod. I just really don't need more than 30GB.
This is a stupid update. Not anything important.
I was a little bit sad that my iPod would probably be out-dated by today. But yeah right, it's not. But of course everyone already knew that it's still 5G.... Where's our iPhone, Steve?

It's seems to me that it's unlikely that the cost of litigation could have exceeded the cost of a settlement, so does that show that Apple expected to be found liable for patent infringement as charged?
I don't know...with five lawsuits between the companies, I wouldn't be surprised if the litigation would have cost at least $100 million. But I do think Apple wasn't terribly confident...
Edit: The estimates I've seen say that a typical patent infringement case costs up to $5 million per side. This would probably be higher than a typical case, with $100 million in total not out of the question.

Wow, over 160 posts, a glossy monitor on the new iMac, and we haven't had a matte vs. glossy fistfight yet.

I'm all for protecting the environment, but sometimes it gets out of hand. Greenpeace should be there, but it is evident that Apple is already working on being more environmentally friendly. Greenpeace should have been kicked out for violating their contract.

Is it emissions regulation or just plain laziness by the automakers?
The more paranoid might suggest that oil companies are collaborating with auto makers and the government to keep efficiency as low as they can get away with. Remember, the record for fuel economy was set in the mid 70s in a slightly modified Opel: something like 237 miles on a gallon (US) of gasoline. Highly idealized conditions no doubt, but my goodness, the average automobile today should be at least a third of the way there.

Who has room for two external displays on a desk that already has a 27" iMac?! Dual outs on the MBP would make much more sense, although achieving it may be more of a technical challenge in terms of GPU power.
ETA: Of course, having an external display connected directly and using the other ThunderBolt port for non-display ThunderBolt devices makes much sense, especially seeing as ThunderBolt devices can't be daisy-chained after a display. So I'm not saying the two ports don't make sense.

Try shooting a gun in real life while moving, adrenaline pumping, life on the line. Guarantee you that shot to the knee can accidentally turn into a head shot.

Did you forget that Microsoft is what got the pc world to where it is today?
They did. And boy, does it show! Part of the reason Apple has done so remarkably well for years now.

No prob. Sorry I wasn't more verbose at first. I actually edited it fast (on my iPhone lol) but it took a min.
Hey, good on you for being a trooper on it. I always nitpick when people reply with one word.

WOW this is a major privacy breach.
With any cell phone (smart or otherwise) the telephone networks have been able to track your movements. All you need to do is to keep it turned on. Not much you can do about this, except hope they don't exercise that ability. Turning the device off frequently can help somewhat... they don't know where you've been (or where your device has been) when the device is turned off.
So I'm going to buy an iPad (Wi-Fi only). I'll either turn it off or close the cover (putting it to sleep) when I'm not using it. I would like to see old location data automatically deleted and to have the option of not backing up location data.
Does the MBP have anything similar inside? No reason why it couldn't.
