That's one naff design, Horrid I tell you absolutely horrid. In part too it contravenes apples design philosophy; No way would apple resign gesture control to the home key, if anything they would de-funk the home key and have the entire bottom edge as gesture control.

Fact is apple Does not like to play by the rules. They want to have their products run on different accessories and what not. Apple does not believe in some of the other common things such as Blu-ray. Will piss you off when the standard wall mounts do fit and you have to buy the apple ones that cost 55% more. Basically Apple will not want to play with the other manufacturers not be the ones with universal remote codes. Be the company that doesn't place HDMI out on the TV because they don't believe 7.1 surround sound is worth anything.

The Mac Mini has HDMI out. Why on Earth would Apple not include HDMI on a television? Also, my Harmony remote has no problem mimicking the AppleTV remote.

Well, the fake 4G carriers are using is faster than the 3G Apple supports, so that's an ok argument.

Sigh, I'm getting the distinct impression that iCal is going to add a bunch of new features and not fix many of the usability problems it already has now. For instance, there is no way to shift several events in time simultaneously, you have to change each one individually. Another is that when you select several events from different calendars and copy and paste them they all turn into the same calendar category.
There are many more problems like these, but I've seen no mention in the preview reports that iCal has done anything to refine the existing features, only that new features are being added. If anyone with a preview can inform me of the contrary I'd be quite happy to hear it.

Once again the drones at Microsoft can't come up with anything new so they spend all their money trying to muscle in on something someone else had the vision to create. I hope they fail big time.
By the time M$ get any sort of marketshare Apple will be onto something new and innovative that that Big Bill will have to throw even more $$$ down the drain to catch up.

Maybe I need more RAM, but I was dissapointed to be reminded of Virtual PC, the way it totally slows the rest of my Mac down...
If you are going to run two operating systems then your computer needs to have the resources for the sum of the two systems. So if Mac OSX needs 1GB to run well and so does Windows XP then you need 2GB of ram. Same for the CPU. If a 2Ghz is needed for Windows and a 2Ghz chip for MacOS then you need either a 4Ghz chip or a two core 2Ghz chip. You don't get anything for free. If you want to run two computers you need twice the hardware.

Wonderful update. I hope the 160GB upgrade isn't too expensive, but 1GB standard and starting at 120GB are more than I expected or even hoped for.
I was also still doubting if I should get a MB or MBP, but that question has been settled today.

Look, you made a claim that TB seemed like an evolution of Fiber channel. I use Fiber channel day in and out on everyone of my servers.
Your arguments would be stronger if you spelled it correctly - "Fibre Channel" ;)
...the bottom line is that TB is a great deal faster than even an eSATA connection.
While "great deal faster" is fuzzy language open to interpretation, IMO I don't consider 10 Gbps TBolt to be a "great deal faster" than 6 Gbps SATA. TBolt can't handle two SATA connections at full bandwidth - that's not a "great deal faster" in my opinion.
When it was called "Light Peak", the technology had a lot of promise. Now that it's been downgraded to daisy-chained copper - it's only a little bit better than USB 3.0. Except that we can buy USB 3.0 devices, it's still "in the future" for TBolt devices.

Looking forward to owning my first glossy display too. I imagine it's beautiful for photo editing+gaming.
Get ready for disappointment. The glossy screen sucks for both photo editing and gaming. Once you have some dark colors on the screen there are reflections all over the place, even in a relatively dark room. Imagine working on a night shot or running through ravenholm in half life 2 with constant reflections from pretty much everything around you - including you.
I used to be a fan of the glossy, but any more I get so irritated with it. I have a matte screen at work and I kept thinking, the colors and textures are so rich. Oh wait, its because I can actually see them. I may go Mac Pro for the Video card and 3rd party monitor option next time.

Paying less is not good. If you are a true Apple believer, you want to pay as much as possible so you can high five when Apple has record profits. It's not about the consumer, it's what's best for Apple.
Wow some people here are incredibly close minded. Nothing comes good out of being dedicated to one brand, nothing. You don't get any perks from the company, you lose out on possible better competitor products, you lose money, you lose out on knowledge of other products, etc.
Furthermore you are dedicated to a brand that is currently one of the most unethical companies out there, the only other company that compares is Sony. Don't get me wrong, I love the iPod line and I love the iTunes software (even if its bloated, management is 2nd to none for music), but the company does some shady things to save a few bucks, and go to great lengths to give the brand a positive name in the media (which includes banning certain individuals from their events if their reviews aren't what apple likes..iLounge 3rd generation shuffle for instance).
BTW, Apple's primary profits come from hardware not the music store.
I hate how slow Apple's servers on iTunes have been for the last couple years, definitely gonna have a look into amazon's store.

Someone correct me if i am wrong here but what this means is that if a mac user wants to install windows in bootcamp and parallels he is going to have to get the business or premium edition??
It is a good thing i get software (all windows, which sucks) through my school for free. I would never pay $400 just te be able to run it in a virtualized environment.
Also, i am assuming that if and when parallels figured out how to use the bootcamp partition to run windows in there software that would frack the EULA and therefor you would be SOL with help from microsoft. Now that puzzles me because technically there is only one copy of windows installed on the machine, but since it is being used via bootcamp and parallels it breaks the EULA and again you are out of luck.
Microsoft seems to be going about this totally backwards to me. I don't understand there insistence on so many different versions of the same crap. why not make like 3-4 versions instead of 7 (or whatever number it is). Make one for home users, one for businesses, and an ultimate edition. Then a server version. That to me seems so much easier.
Oh well, i get it for free anyway so i'm not sure why i am complaining.
