Soon we will only have one OS called iOSX
OSX 10.7 has iOS features that were sent "Back to the Mac"
iOS is getting OSX apps (Photoshop, Garage Band, iMovie, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Photo Booth.......)
OSX is getting apps originally designed for iOS
If you imagine iOS and OSX on a line
iOS......................|.....................OSX
They are moving in opposite directions toward each other.
......iOS................|..............OSX.......
Eventually, they will meet in the middle and we will have either 2 similar operating systems or simply a mix of the two.
I think Apple thinks that by taking the best of the two worlds they are creating a "better" user experience. I don't know if this is the case but I think that this is clearly the inevitable long-term outcome. Time will tell.
Yes, I want to have the same OS on my phone and my desktop.

And you're only argument is "it's wrong".
Really? Have you read the thread? This is far from the only argument given to get rid of the death penalty.

Folks,
Even though I believe .mac to be overpriced for the value, after buying a couple of iMacs for my extended family, I decided that it made sense to by a Family Pack license of .mac because the members of my extended family aren't that computer savvy, so making photocasting and sharing files as easy as possible was a priority.
All the retailers I called had no stock on .mac retail boxes and told me they were on backorder. After placing an order a few days ago via the Apple Store online, the original ship date was estimated 1-3 weeks, but my order now shows an estimated ship date of October 24th.
I can only hope that this means that the .mac service and retail boxes are going to get released in late October with new functionality. I'm not going to hold my breath, but I can't figure why something as simple as a .mac retail box with an activation code is backordered more than a month since placing my order unless something was afoot.
I'll secretly wish for Merom MBPs at the same time of course. :D
Gavin.
The online store is showing 24 hours... hmm...
Well, it looks like today (10/16) is the last day to save $30 on .Mac when you get a mac.
Also, Apple updated .Mac in late September last year, so this wouldn't be a bad time to update it (include this enhancement, along with others).

Good work! I've just double checked your figures and they are accurate (ahem)
I suppose the original question should have been, "What have Apple got in there?"
Maybe Steve Jobs has another hobby going, a new Xserve!
For a while I mixed up exabyte and petabyte, so I thought a petabyte was 1024 exabytes which was 1024 terabytes. Now it makes sense.

Bertrand Serlet (Apple)
Apple today announced (http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2011/03/23serlet.html) that Bertrand Serlet, senior vice president of Mac Software Engineering, will be departing the company in order to "focus less on products and more on science", although his specific destination remains unknown. Serlet joined Steve Jobs at NeXT in 1989, and transitioned to Apple in 1997 when NeXT was acquired and Jobs brought back to lead Apple.

Serlet will be replaced by Craig Federighi, currently Apple's vice president of Mac Software Engineering and who has led Mac OS X engineering for the past two years. Federighi is another former NeXT and Apple employee who spent ten years at Ariba before returning to Apple in 2009. Serlet notes that the transition should be seamless given Federighi's role in leading the current Mac OS X team.Serlet has occasionally appeared at Apple keynote and media events over the years to introduce Mac OS X-related features, and thus well known to longtime Apple followers. Federighi made his first public presentation since his return to Apple at last October's "Back to the Mac" event (http://www.macrumors.com/2010/10/20/live-coverage-of-apples-back-to-the-mac-media-event/), taking the stage to show off some of the features of Apple's forthcoming Mac OS X Lion.

What do people think the age of consent should be? I think that if we have to put an age to it it should be no more than 16 probably 12/14 but I think a change to the way the subject is dealt with in the education system would/should also be required.
Wow, 12 seems a bit young.
Kids should have a level of respect for their parents that keeps them from having sex if their parents feel they should not - if an 18-year old feels that he can't obey his parents wishes how can he ask them to support him by providing him with a house to live in etc. etc.
I think that having sex against the wishes of a parent is disrespectful to a degree. If you are on your own and self-sufficient then by all means you should operate on your own discretion. But if you are a teenager living at home you have an obligation to accede to your parents wishes in matters (such as this) that can have far-reaching conequences. They invested a lot of time and made sacrifices to raise you; How much value to do place on a request of theirs?
Personally I don't think most 18 year olds are emotionally mature enough to maintain a sexual relationship - they tend to be too self centered and shortsighted about what they are doing. I know several couples that got together at a very young age, some on purpose and others as the result of an "accident" child. None of them, I think, are very happy with the decision they made.

How can you pre-order if the 2GB shuffle is not even on Apple's website?
Hey, the first time saw 5G iPod, I thought, why are they talking about a 5 gig iPods, when the current iPod is 30 and 60 gigs...
We all make that mistake when we first see that terminology...

I've been reading a number of comments from a variety of sources since the iPhone runs OSX it is a pocket-size Mac. Applications, Widgets etc will all be written for this device which will all be OSX compatible.
Laptops and desktops, iLife etc. will all be announced in good time. However the iPhone is a revolutionary device. So much so that RIMM and Palm both fell today on the stock market. The iPhone, like the original iPod, have established a new standard.

Wu's stock price target of $92 I think is another good indication of how crappy of an analyst he is. AAPL is currently trading at $88.24 (of course it's probably changed since then). I know it probably won't close at the price but there's only a $4 gap between that and the target. I would be very surprised if between now and MWSF, given all of the expected big announcements (and the crashing of the Zune), if the stock price does not rise higher. Then again, I'm not exactly a stock broker...
I think that this shows how close he is coming to his estimate. He predicted $92 a few months ago and look at how close the stock is to that price right now.

Why reform income tax? Get rid of it. Institute a federal property tax (not just real estate) with a moderate cut off (like, say, the first $60K). You can obscure income with all manner of accounting tricks, stuff is much harder to hide.
Yes, it would be a logistical nightmare to get implemented, but once in place it would be much simpler (not that simple means fair, necessarily), and we would be back to the original intent of the constitution.
