Of course they don't. Most of them probably just want to be involved in the commotion, so they can put their hand up and say "yeah, I downloaded that track, suck it Cowell!"
Yeah, I'm sure millionaire Cowell really cares. Whoever was the poor winner of the X-factor will be used and spat out by him regardless if he gets to no1 or not.

My only gripe that in in a normal year you need to sell 170,000-250,000 records to get Christmas number one, the X-factor single has already passed this mark so unfortunately it looks like more people have been buying it to prevent Rage winning. So Cowell wins either way, no such thing as bad publicity.
Incidentally, I'm not savvy with reality TV (I prefer reality) or FaceSpace Books, I heard Zane Lowe play the song about a week ago and thought, what a classic, I haven't heard that for years and went out and downloaded it. I don't agree with the people saying it's not a good song, in 1992 Tom Morello's guitar playing was groundbreaking and the lyrics ideally suit this chart battle.

Couple weeks back, system blinked off. The machines powers on, but there's no chime and the system doesn't boot at all. Done the SMC reset, reseated RAM, drives, video cards etc. Suspected the logic board.
Troubleshooting (from Frys, Apple authorized) confirms it's the logic board.
Now, going through the process of pulling the old board to trade in for a replacement "X7Q" board. Probably this one:

I got the machine disassembled but I am unable to remove the heat sinks/CPUs. The 4 captive screws loosen, even took them all the way out of the machine, but the sinks seem to be stuck. It doesn't just lift out as most of the online info I've found indicates that it should.
Unsure of how hard to pull on this thing. It wobbles very slightly, but feels firmly stuck on...enough that the board will flex if I pull it any harder.
More reading makes me think it might be the thermal paste is just really sticking? This is really stuck though...almost as though there's another screw I can't see. I thought if I pulled hard enough the CPU might come out along with the sink.
Also I ran across an article (after the fact) that states the order of screw removal from the heat sinks needs to be in a specific crossing pattern. Can't imagine how that matters.
Of course, I paid through the nose for this machine back in late '07. Bought Apple Care even. All long since expired...now that I need it. Getting desperate. This machine is a workhorse and I see no value in replacing it if I can fix it for 700 to 800 bucks.
Any one have ideas?

Hello all,
It's been a while. Life has been quite busy here for me. A few weeks ago everything started falling back in to place again.
After a few weeks of doing absolutely nothing but trying to decide (summer break @ edu job) i pointed the gun towards the church tower (it's a dutch saying : The bullet is through the church - decision has been made).
Today i started my first day of school. Finally doing something I really like :). And after some tryouts with jobs i could do while studying i landed on a sweet spot at a retail shop (guess what i'm selling :D;)).
Anyhow, school really will take up most of my time, so i will have to choose between a masters degree or a cool widget.
I could stop reading MR... :rolleyes:

I wish Expos� would have been in iOS 4. I really don't like the current multitasking option.
I like it on my iPad but expose would have been much better.
Also, using gestures would make much more sense with expose; plus I think its a better experience overall. :)

I don't want you to draw any conclusion. I was simply trying to correct what I thought were some misconceptions about California.
You're right that this state does have one of the highest deficits and tax rates for high incomes. However, if you look at the figures, despite the tax rate, Californians still earn more per capita on average than Texans. If you're looking to save money, it doesn't necessarily make sense to move.

Does the mac mini support sd card peripherals (modems etc.)? I believe the capability is included in the sdxc spec.

I hate to say it but I was not moved by these commercials. Nice to see them but sorry...both guys are geekish.

2) Sorry the "Mac" character is not as cool as the US version or some of the actors being used for other computer commercials in Japan. Star power sells in Japan.
If Apple really wants this to sell, they will have to make some specialized videos that are Japan only. For example iMovie...they have to use an example of the time it takes to edit say....kid's sports festival video.

Your concerns are understood. My question is: how does this differ from having your wallet or credit card stolen? Amazing that we'll secure our computers up tightly to prevent online security breaches but we'll let the sketchy-looking waiter walk away with our credit card in the restaurant.....

With respect to credit cards, most eating places where I am in the UK bring a machine to the table rather than taking the card away. A PIN is required. Also, one can erase or cover the 3-digit number on the back so that you reduce the chances of your stolen card being used online. My worry is that the RFID will be so automatic ('convenient') that you'll be able to wave your phone to purchase goods or services, without any other conformation of your identity. And it is true that security so far on RFID is far from perfect: indeed, one can now purchase shielded passport covers that reduce the chance of criminal access to sensitive passport information via RFID .

The iphone 5 will be a minor spec bump, i seriously doubt they are waiting for september unless it is for LTE which people claim isnt coming until the revision after that (which imo will be quick to get it out before the holidays rather than waiting till the next june)

2. WHY would we want LTE when Android phones have already shown how bad is for battery life? Moreover, not all countries have LTE and even in the US is not widely adopted. Is useless have not optimized technology this time that also cannot be used but by few.
There is only one thing I could disagree on the A5 adoption on the iPhone. If you have seen the iPhone4 and iPad2 internals you should think about this:
a. The iPhone4 was so packed you could not fit an hair in it. The A5 is way bigger than the A4.
b. The solution for the iPad2 problem with the more demanding A5 consumption was to add a third pack of battery.
This means that the iPhone4 design cannot allow the A5 chip, let alone a bigger battery. I believe that Apple has surely an internal redesign; however, I feel that they will not use the same exact A5 found in the iPad2.
So, it's most likely they are going do these things.
1. One device that will work on both VZ and AT&T network
2. 32GB and 64G storage.
3. 1080P recording with 8 megapixel camera
4. A5 chip
5. Maybe higher ram or maybe not.
6. Throw in something new... like better gyroscope or something to just make iPhone 4 outdated, but nothing major.
