Office for Mac or Office for Windows? Easy decision.
I haven't opened VMWare Fusion for months, since I installed Office for Mac.
YMMV.
After dealing with the bugs in Excel 2011 for Mac, I have been running the PC version of Excel 2010 in Fusion ever since...it runs far faster on the VM than Excel for the Mac runs. There is no comparison.
I'll see if the update helps but I'm not expecting much.
Plus a lot of add-ins aren't available, but you can get Solver for Mac now.
To each his own, I just use the PC version because I can build large worksheets much faster in it. (using Fusion 3, Win7Pro, Excel 2010)

guess the bigger question
will this be available in coach or is this just a first class option?
Hopefully it will be available in all classes. It doesn't seem like Steve Jobs to settle for anything less - He's all about the average consumer.

Why would Apple do what has failed all other manufactures during the time Apple's one model mantra have eaten sales from other manufactures?
Besides there is no correlation here. Many of those manufactures have failed due to having multiple poor models. It really doesn't matter if you have dozens of models if each one has crappy and different software.

Something made in the US, either a Camaro or a Challenger. I'm waiting to see if there is a glimmer of hope that Dodge makes a convertible Challenger next year.
Neither of those are assembled in the US. They are both the product of The Peoples' Democratic Revolutionary Socialist Province of Ontario.

i doubt apple with update the MB soon, there just wouldnt be enough distinguishing the MB from the MBP if they both got C2D at the same time, mostl ikely it will be like the mini, it will get a small speed bump.
Intel's line doesn't leave much room for a bump... unless Apple is going to use the Core and Core 2 processors as a product differential. Talk about gay considering the two kinds of chips costs pretty much the same.

Apple, please, make it right:
- Smartphone.
- Built-in Mac OS X mobile.
- Wireless
That will make it the ultimate presentation tool with a huge halo effect on corporate, education and domestic markets:
1. Make presentation on Mac or PC with Keynote or Powerpoint.
2. Save the presentation to the iPhone.
3. Use the iPhone as a wireless computerless presentation remote.
Wow! More here with great pictures:

I don't think any presentation features would be enought to cause any halo effect in the corporate market. Features that *could* cause a halo effect, on the other hand, are:
- Using the iPhone as high-speed wireless modem, over Bluetooth (2.0 or even a new version), or Wi-Fi (maybe can enable "Internet Sharing" on phone)
- Powerful email/messaging client to compete with Blackberry. They wouldn't really be competing with Blackberry, but they might strip away a few users that decide the email client is "good enough" and would like to have their iPod and phone in the same device...

The problem with CR's iPhone 4 report was not that they didn't recommend the iPhone 4 when it originally came out on AT&T but that they then reiterated their "Not recommend" labeling for the Verizon iPhone 4 for having the same 'death grip' issue. They did this despite that the Verizon version had a different antenna design. Anandtech, who were amongst the first to quantify the 'death grip' issue for the AT&T version, showed that in fact the VZ iPhone 4 fared no worse than other smartphones. For the original iPhone 4, CR felt while it was great in many categories, it's antenna issue was too great a problem in their eyes. One could argue that they overstated the problem given that most users didn't seem to mind, but their position of "Not recommended" is not unjustifiable for the AT&T iPhone 4. However, CR clearly screwed up on the VZ iPhone 4.

In Arizona - the Verizon phone shows the correct (unchanged time). The AT&T phone is an hour fast (it changed).
This is such a basic function - how can Apple get it wrong?

Are you people seriously applauding this? What a waste of our tax dollars!! I do contracts with the Navy every single day and I know that the technology that they have will not be benefited by the use of iPad/iPod/iPhone. The military does not offer wi-fi to their staff on base. Everything is hard wired and the conduit is sealed with a tamper proof silicon. The Government is very very particular about their SIPRnet (as they call it). Without wi-fi, what use is the iPad for the military other than to give them a little treat and waste our tax dollars? They already have mobile equipment in the vehicles that is far superior to Apple's products.
Every officer I know has a gov't issued blackberry. The iphone and ipad don't necessarily need wifi to be of value.

Thanks for the clarification, you're great! So if the ULV HD3000 performs at 50% of MBP 13", and if IB speeds up the HD 3000 by 50% this will mean MBA IB HD 3000 will run @75% of the speed of 2011 MBP 13". So, I am actually quite right unless Intel develops a new IGP there is a thick chance people will bash on IB MBA, too.
I agree with you bump in processor speed won't be the key point to entice people to buy a SB MBA - there should be something more, either larger SSD storage for the same amount of money, or connectivity (TB) or better display, or better battery, or all of them. Providing incremental upgrade in speed is obviously not what the so called 'average user' need in an MBA - so many topics there are on the subject on MR.
well very honestly even if Apple had offered a MBA back at the launch with Arrandales, they would have only provided bragging rights since an I5-520UM performs about the same as a 1.6 SU9600. Most people dont understand that so they go wow I5 Core2Duo sucks bro.

No one has mentioned the Apple store in Fort Worth... could mean good things for me! I plan on scoping it out around noon... stocked with school work and snacks!
I will be at the Fort Worth store too im not expecting a crowd
Man now I am torn, I was going to just get it at Best Buy but it looks like they won't let me and I am about 30 miles from both the knox st. store and the ft worth store, decisions decisions.

don't ask me! ask the EU about it. i don't make the regulations. but i can tell you this, they want a standard port for charging purposes and data transfer, so that you have to deal with fewer cables. it's not a bad idea, if you think about it.It's a bad idea for Apple when they can't charge you $99 for a 50 cent piece of plastic and copper.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Xeon#5100-series_.22Woodcrest.22
On 26 June Intel released the Dual-Core Xeon codenamed Woodcrest; it was the first Intel Core microarchitecture processor to be launched on the market. It is a server and workstation version of the Intel Core 2 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Core_2) processor. Intel claims that it provides an 80% boost in performance, while reducing power consumption by 20% relative to the Pentium D.
sure it mentioned intel core 2, but if you click on that link, and search for xeon, see what you can find.
the both use the Intel Core microarchitecture technology, however they are branded differently
You can also find Xeon information on Intel's Core 2 Duo page...
http://www.intel.com/core2duo/index.htm?iid=HMPAGE+Feature_06ww39
Where is your proof that the Woodcrest Xeon is not built on Core?
on the left side, is the only place that Xeon was listed. There are 5 processors listed there, however on the top where the tabs are, there are only 4, there is no xeon
something they taught in SAT's (i dont know if they still have this these days)
Merom:Woodcrest = C2D:Xeon... they are at the same level, but not one under the other

Ignoring current situations and if I could have it any way I want:
Macbook Air 11.6''
- Intel I5 ULV, 6mb FSB
- Nvidia GeForce GTX 460M
- SD Card Slot
- Thunderbolt Port in ADDITION to 2 USB ports.
- Get rid of the bezel around the screen and either make the screen slightly larger or make it black edge similar to MBP.
I would just settle for the i5 and Nvidia chip. As for the collapsable ethernet port... moving parts? ew.
I lol'ed at this:p
