I don't know if I qualify as a "fan boy" or not... I love technology, Apple just happens to have been the leader for a long time. Anyway, I'm not a fan of CR's criteria regardless of what they recommend. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.I hear ya. People would definitely say Fanboy James is talking Apple again, but looking around my world, I see Sanyo, Sony, Vizio, MS XBox, Pioneer, Toshiba and other logos. I like tech. I have more Apple stuff, but Apple simply makes more stuff that I like in certain ways than others do.

Trump has a great mind when it comes to Business, so he really should leave it at that.
It's even doubtful that Trump has a "great" business mind. He essentially stepped into his father's already immense real estate business, and has a lot of outstanding liabilities, not to mention many businesses that have filed for bankruptcy.
The only skill Trump really has is to sell himself to anyone gullible enough to listen.
As for the OP's question, Trump is not a viable candidate, and the GOP is aware of this. If Trump does somehow win the nomination (which I doubt), it would make Obama's reelection campaign a breeze. Candidates like Trump and Palin are too cartoonish to be taken seriously by the 1/3 of American voters that are not registered with a party.

Look at the clock speeds of the offerings from IBM, HP, SGI, and Sun. For the most part, you will see that their machines have clock speeds in the sub-GHz range. Yet these are the machines of choice when price is no object and the job must get done. Just think about this: these boards are filled with laments that effectively tell you that you need substaintially higher clock speeds to run a computer game than you need to simulate the gas flow in a jet engine. Don't you think that something is just a bit warped here?

The reason they are used is for this feature alone - and yepI would rather run my simulations on a sparc box than a pc, although the cost of a cheap linux box is pushing us down that route. I'd be happy with your 6 other points if it meant cheaper ticket prices (the food in coach isn't worth any amount of money!!!). But if they squeeze those seats any closer together, it will make it physically impossible for me (and anyone else over 6 ft) to fit in them. It's already pretty much a fracking health hazard (damned if blood is going to flow through my legs when they're so crammed up against the seat in front of me, hah :D).

I've been using the iPhone's Google maps in that way for almost 3 years and I have not once had that be an issue.
I dunno, I guess something bad could happen, but it sure doesn't seem likely to me at this point. And even if it does happen to me soon I'm prepard for "once every 3 years" as a failure rate.
Ok, but when a road changes and you don't have the newest map then what are you doing? Manually downloading is what.
I'd rather it be an automatic process.
Both methods have drawbacks: "Not always available" vs. "Not always current."
Given that I've never had a problem with availability, I'm actually interested in an app that promises to stay current without my having to download maps manually ahead of time.
Since you are already using Google maps this way, then why pay $40 for a service? Traffic updates? Road directions? Talking to you? All fine things but I have also been using Google maps this way and have had refresh problems in areas of otherwise good coverage. I would pay for a map service which had a small local map (say one in a 200 mile radius of your main zip code) that I could have on board. Using over the air, I'll just stick with free google maps.

Very happy about iOS 5 and Mac OS X Lion, i'm guessing MobileMe will also be revamped as well in the conference.
But, i can't believe Hardware won't be previewed this time. I was hoping to see some nice new iMacs with Lion, but more importantly iPhone 5. Hoping for an earlier launch date.

Are you people seriously applauding this? What a waste of our tax dollars!! I do contracts with the Navy every single day and I know that the technology that they have will not be benefited by the use of iPad/iPod/iPhone. The military does not offer wi-fi to their staff on base. Everything is hard wired and the conduit is sealed with a tamper proof silicon. The Government is very very particular about their SIPRnet (as they call it). Without wi-fi, what use is the iPad for the military other than to give them a little treat and waste our tax dollars? They already have mobile equipment in the vehicles that is far superior to Apple's products.
You can't assume this will be used for SIPR. What about all the unclassified computers and devices? Our base has been fiddling around with some wifi lately. I don't know if we'll actually get it (doubt it) but it's a possibility.

It's probably a QC issue. Some are thicker while others are not.
If your an Asian worker in china and work over 60 hours per week, you're probably going to get tired of putting 1,000 same parts over and over again per hour, thus causing some minor, and very minor tweaks to the device, and Apple's QC is excellent by the way.

Trump is a good businessman... which may be good for corporations if he gets elected. IMO though, what we need is a President who looks out for the people, not business.

The good news is that Apple's iPhone OS won't be the dominating mobile platform for much longer. The sales numbers show that Android is quickly gaining momentum, and Google's marketplace is not censored at all and developers can choose whatever development tool they want to produce software for Android.
Just because they went from 2.5% to 5.2% in the US means nothing. Apple is at 25%. It is a lot harder to get into the higher market. All that they've been showing is that they can take some of Palm and WM6 marketshare.

If I want to use software that directly competes with Apple's own offers, then obviously their competition is giving me something that I like better than Apple's software products.

Not a good survey. The stats seem wrong based on what I'm seeing everywhere else. 2000 people is not a large enough sample set. And although the 40% higher demand makes sense given the full year that took place between introduction of "tablets" as a concept versus as an established product, it means very little.

I just use map quest application. It is a free application and offers voice-based turn by turn directions with street names and all. Traffic updates really aren't worth the extra $40 if you ask me. And half the time I shut off the screen and just listen to the voice direction to save battery life, so 3D maps are a mute point with me...
