The whole reason Apple is suing Samsung is because how much of a success the Galaxy S was in Europe. Now I don't blame Apple, but let's be honest here, they filed this lawsuit waayy too late. I don't know if any of you have read the Galaxy S 2 review on Engadget, but their reviewer, one notoriously known for hating on Android, gave it a 9/10, and said it was the best smartphone on the market.
...Did you hear me? iEngadget says this is a better phone...what world am I living in? I know the iPhone 4 is a ten month old phone, but considering its going to be in the market without a successor for another 4 months, and Europe is adopting Android like wildfire, Apple has to do something about it, fast.
Their lawsuit isn't stopping the release of the GS2, and their attempt to milk iPhone 4 sales by releasing a Verizon model (numbers are going down) and a white version (why would someone buy this over the black version?) probably won't work for long. People who pirate movies wouldn't have bought the movie in the first place. Adding usage restrictions only hurts the customers who bought the movie. If the studios are worried people will transfer movies to their friend's iPods, then they probably have their heads in the sand regarding the swapping of DVDs.
Still, the concept of limiting consumers' rights is the issue at hand.

I'm willing to pay as soon as the studios get their acts together and make it available to me, but you're right if the terms are too restrictive I won't bother buying online, either.

4.3 and 4.3.1 has been a disaster. The animations are so choppy it makes it almost androidesque. I hope they actually fix it this time rather than just patching a jailbreak. I wish I could go back to 4.2.1 where the phone was actually stable and smooth.

Why is a calling feature tied to a messaging one?
I'd imagine so it looks like people are getting something for "free" (I'd be willing to bet that most of their customers are already on an unlimited messaging plan, particularly if they're on a family plan) while still maintaining some semblance of profitability for the carrier (messaging plans are generally believed to be pure profit).
I'm excited about this feature, even if I don't truly *need* it. I'm on the lowest-tiered family plan right now and I have literally thousands of rollover minutes. Most of my friends and family are on AT&T (lots of iPhone users) and I don't call anyone all that often anyway. However, it's always nice to have yet another feature that establishes peace of mind. Plus, I hope this is the first in a long line of steps to reduce the overall cost of monthly service for AT&T users (unlikely, but I can dream...and perhaps a massive deflection to Verizon will help speed things along).
Plus, it's just another choice for users. I may not use my phone as a phone all that often, but lots of AT&T users do. I bet this reduces the overall cost of a plan for some iPhone users, particularly those on a family plan.

On my iPhone 4, the animations are very choppy. For example when I tap an app, it doesn't "zoom" in...it just freezes for a second then the app appears. Not jailbroken, and it does this even after a restore.
Hopefully this update will fix it...it's been going on for a while now.
I second this issue. This problem only became a problem following an upgrade; my brand new iP4 ran like a champ! :(

I'm considering going back to pay as you go. Really. My phone is used least for talking. And although I like to have my apps and internet, it's not worth the $75/month I'm paying for some youtube videos or surfing the web while waiting in the car. Google Voice + buying minutes = WINNING for me. I'll simply sell my iPhone and buy an iPod touch. I'm really hating AT&T right now. I may do something rash today.

Appleinsider called this correctly then, I wonder if this will be the top selling iPod model this Christmas.
I think that it will be very popular this season. Here's why:
- It's relatively cheap. Almost a stocking stuffer.
- It's small and cool looking.
- It's very convenient with the built in clip for those who commute, and of course for those who use it while exercising.
- A simple design compared to many other offerings on the market.

Hi, I have had this constant black screen on my iTunes store page on iTunes. Everything else is fine but the store page, I have tried re-installing iTunes and yet still the problem persists. Anyone know how to get change it back?

What's the point of using Lotus Notes at all?
Any SMART company could be encrypting all their secure e-mail with PGP encryption.
I suppose these IT administrators feel better knowing they can read the content
of all your e-mails which makes their jobs more secure.

Do you really think there is a limit to how much storage people want? People would rather shuffle more songs than less.

but do the math... 240 songs... average time per song 3 minutes
240 x 3 = 720 minutes / 60 = 12 hours current shuffle battery time
next year we might see a 2GB shuffle with 24 hour battery time
