I just got a 2.8 i7 Quad Core iMac, and I wouldn't mind helping out if someone would outline the steps for me. I already installed seti@home, but the application is only using one core, which really bugs me. I wont be able to dedicate my machine 24/7, but on the down time, or when I leave the room I wouldn't mind leaving it on.

i know this topic doesnt belong here but if someone can please help me out id really appriciate it. i did try to post this a few time in the ipod section but no one seems to be of any help.
i have a ipod touch 4th gen currently on 4.3
i was trying to jailbreak it using redsnow 0.9.6rc14 to upgrade to 4.3.2 and jailbreak at the same time. the jailbreak does finish but when i check the ipod it isnt upgrading the software to4.3.2 nor is cydia getting insatalled. if someone can please help me out id really appriciate it.

The first Avid came out in 1989 on a Mac IIx. Most people up until a couple of years ago where still editing with Avid Xpress/Film Composer on Power Macintosh 9600's and G3/G4 machines because they cut and cut really well. You used to not be able to separate the word Apple from Avid until they started being bad about working with other developers over the span of OS X. I.E. Avid, Adobe & Macromedia. And developing competing products. You've seen what Steve can do with a product like flash and ban it from an OS. So Adobe and Avid started not putting all their eggs in one basket and that's why you started seeing alot of software on apple's migrate to PC's because of Apple's behavior for better or worse.
IMO the story goes slightly different. Apple was circling the drain, Mac-centric developers went "Oh, *****!" and developed Windows versions of their Apps. Steve went "Oh, *****" and started developing first party apps as a matter of necessity. It's not a coincidence that a rash of first party apps started appearing around the same time (99/00). iMovie, iTunes, iDVD and iPhoto all hit the streets around the same time and they were all free. FCP landed during the same time and while it was not free it was ridiculously cheaper than Avid's offerings.
Avid also flirted w/the idea of dropping the Mac entirely when the G4 started to stagnate (thanks Motorola), but Mac faithful editors dang near busted out the torches and pitch forks so Avid quickly backed peddled. Except that I don't jailbreak my iPad. :p I do however work in an electronics repair shop, and we do jailbreaking/unlocking for customers sometimes. Apple is beating down the jailbreak community pretty well recently. It's a pain for me because it means lots of customers coming in complaining that their jailbreak/unlock is gone. ;)

Well finally we might actually see decent image editing on the iPad. I can't imagine this being anywhere as great as Photoshop on a real computer anytime soon, but the iPad should be able to run something like Photoshop 7 or CS without any problems thanks to the CPU power and RAM it has. If they just made it touch sensitive somehow, or added stylus or external tablet support somehow, that would be awesome.
I doubt there really is the need for a totally rewritten app here, as it will lack 99% of the good features in Photoshop (Liquify, robust Type tool, Curves, etc...).

Hi all, I have bootcamped W7 with 70 gigs; but want to change it to have more space for games. I think I have to Delete the whole partition and then reinstall/bootcamp my W7 Disc, but will my key work with it?

I have the Cuisinart Ice Cream maker and it's ok. The kitchenaid will be much better, just turn your freezer temp as low as it will go and leave the churn in there for about a day, I usually do for at least 24 hours. The Cuisinart only works on one speed so when the mixture starts to really firm up you can't whip it harder to incorporate air. Besides, why have something that only does one thing? ;) A kitchenaid will last literally forever, you'll have to put it in your will.

There were 3 or 4 comments right off the bat in this article that hit the nail on the head, and yet people blatantly ignore those comments and spill out the troll fodder.
Verizon iPhone 4 sales that didnt meet expectations have nothing to do with:
-Not being able to talk and browse
-Feeling "shunned" for 4 years by Apple (big LOL at this one)
I think it is a combination of 3 things all combined playing into this. Both the fact that users contracts arent up IN ADDITION to the fact that the Android phones are currently "good enough" to not feel the need to immediately switch. When people's contracts start expiring, the sales will continue to pick up. The other item is the iPhone 5 or 4S. Everyone is aware that a new model is coming, and when you add these factors all together, it doesnt take a genius to figure out why people aren't rushing out to buy one (even though they've probably already sold millions)

Does iOS 4.3 for ipod touch run iOS 4.3 ipad apps? No it doesnt. So how can they be the same exact OS if they cant run the same apps?

Besides pricing yourself too low and underestimating the time needed to pull-off a project, I picked up on this (your quote).
If you're going to be a professional graphic designer, it's time you got your filing/archiving system down. As you saw on that phone call, a little fumbling around and disorganization doesn't reflect wel and gives your nightmare clients the opportunity to belittle you. Don't give them that opportunity. Be organized.
One final thing. Phone time is meeting time. Meeting time is billable. Especially when the phone calls are over 1/3 of your billable time.
And good luck with the career. :)

The guy kind of threw me with the sudden weekend call. You're right about the phone time too. No more mister nice guy; there's no reason to cheat myself for billable meeting time when I'm already lowballing myself.:)

I hope they add 4:2 cropping. It is silly that the iPhone app can croop in many aspect ratios but does not crop in the iphone aspect ratio.
