Friends, I Received the magic email today!
Yes - I cant believe my eyes, my I-485 has been approved today and card production ordered.
I do have a question: I could not file for my wife's i-485 in July/2007. So, we filed for my wife's application on Aug/01/2008 (Did a overnight express mail on July-31st) as my PD is current as of Aug-1st. So far her application check has not been deposited.
What will happen now? Is she out of status? I am getting really concerned. Gurus help me out?
Thanks in advance.
A green dot guaranteed for the response :)
Some details:
Ceter: TSC
I-485 Receipt Date: July/2/2007
I-140 Approval Date: July/3/2006
PD: 02/02/2006
Enjoy freedom. Your wife should be fine as her AOS petition reached uscis before your approval. I won't be surprised if you get another surprise soon !

This really helped me. I just did that and find out that I have so many addresses there. As I said initially because of my job status I moved a lot within US..
But I am still confused.
For India I am clear. For the period when I was in India, I will put Indian address
But while I was in US, what addresses should I put in g-325a form - The places where I actually lived or as the addresses I put in my US tax returns ?
I have no problem in providing all US addresses, but that contradicts with my addresses in US Tax returns.
If USCIS will do background check, are they more concerned about
(a) That addresses in my tax return should match with my residence addresses in g-325a form ?
OR
(c) They are more inclined towards that addresses should match with the actual addresses where I lived ?
from annualcreditreport.com (this is a site from the 3 credit agencies), you can see all the addresses that your credit card bills went to. So there is a record of where you actually lived in the last 3-5 years.
By the way, by law you are entitled to a free credit report annually. You can get it from the afore mentioned site.

It's hard to explain, but the first two don't really do anything for me. The third one is certainly a step in the right direction (totally fugly JPEG artifacts ignored), and I think that with a bit of post processing you could really take it in some interesting directions. My eye only notices the deer after a little while; if you wanted to focus more on the deer, you could use a masked adjustment layer to subtly (the key word is subtly - very subtly) darken everything but the animal, and another adjustment layer to add a tiny bit of contrast only to the deer. Of course, QJ will come up with many other and more creative things to try, but that's off the top of my head a few ideas to start with. :)

My first 3 years of H1B visa and I-94 expired on december,31,2009. My employer applied for my H1B renewal and got the approval notice (797A with I-94 part in the bottom valid from 1/1/2010 till end of 2012) expiring in end of 2012. I went to Canada for 4 days and got my 3 year visa extension stamped which is valid till end of 2012 for the same employer. They took off my old I-94 when I left to Canada and did not issue a new I-94 while entering the US. The officer just took a look at the 797 and said that I am good with the bottom part of the 797 itself and did not stamp any expiry date on the bottom part or did not issue a new I-94(white card). He just stamped the entry date and POE name on my passport. I checked with the CBP officer and she said that since the renewed visa and 797 is valid till end of 2012, I can use the bottom part of the 797 as the I-94 and it is valid till end of 2012. Is this correct?
I noticed that the bottom part of the 797 has the same number as my old I-94.
I believe that I should get a new I-94,but the officer was not ready to believe that and kept saying that the 797 bottom part is enough.
The U.S. Government has undertaken a variety of efforts since September 11 to enhance border security. If you are traveling to the U.S. with a nonimmigrant visa, and are taking a short trip(s) to Canada and Mexico, review the Automatic Revalidation webpage on the CBP website. Anyone who has applied for and been refused visa issuance at a border post is prohibited from re-admission or re-entry to the U.S. in the same visa category, even though they are in possession of a valid I-94 form. Travelers who are citizens of countries on the State Department's list of State Sponsors of Terrorism are prohibited from re-entering the U.S. using solely an I-94 form if their visa has expired.

You should be thankful you are even able to file for 485. There are so many of us here who have waited 4+ YEARS (and still waiting) for just their labor cerification from BECs. Even assuming they get their I-140 approved overnight, they need to wait another 3-4 YEARS before they can even FILE 485. So compared to that 4-5 months processing time to approve I-140 is a rounding error .. dont mean to defend USCIS or trivialize your problem, just giving you some perspective of in the larger context of this huge EB mess.
I am really shocked to hear that. Why is it taking 4+ years to get a labor certification? I thought the PERM system solved this problem; I, of course, don't know much because my labor was approved via SHLC, and that takes 6 months.
Is this included in our demands? I mean the ability to file for 485 even when labor is not approved? Sounds like it should be.

Yes you can Port your PD if your EB3 I-140 is Approved.
Once the I-140 gets Approved the PD is locked.
You can file a Labor under EB2 Using your MBA degree, once this Labor gets
Approved attach your OLD EB3 I-140 Copy and Port to your NEW EB2 Case.

Thanks for encouraging comments from everyone. I hope some one from core team also takes notice of this and gives it some consideration.
May be we could tie this campaign as part of gaining support for approval of 5882 (visa recapture)

Can anyone confirm that only Driver License is required for this cruise? NCL told me so, but Id like to hear from someone who already sailed. Also, do you have to go through Customs or Immigration upon returning? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Kirupa, thanks but when I started a new empty xaml file to test your code I got quite a few errors. I'm using the June 2.5 Preview so I don't know if that's the cause of the errors but I've attached a screenshot with the code and errors.

I have gone through the same situation. My lawyer appealed with the original paper advertizement and my perm was cleared about one and half years later. I don't see any issue here as long as your employer has followed all the perm steps. Good Luck.
Thanks. Makes me feel better. Sound like your case is similar to mine - newspaper advertisement issue.

I second it :) NO SSN REQUIRED FOR PP. I filled out 000-00-0000 for my son. I believe there was a site or document I looked up and got this info (dont remember where I found it).
You dont need a PIO. If it is emergency or you dont have time, just get a multiple entry visa. For kids at that age it does not make any difference whether they enter on PIO or a visa. Chicago issues visa the same day.
BTW does Indian consulate do background check and issue 221(g) :D:D
PS: I live in IL as well and you dont need SSN for kids to get a PP :)

I believe both are right. I do not think 123456mg is wrong. S/He is a law-abiding person like us and has a right to state his opinion. I agree, the statements were a bit harsher but so the truth is. Also, I guess we must stop discussing more on these matters as such since it is past and can not be changed now. Though you have my personal symphathies unlike 123456mg, I do not think the actions you chose were correct and you require a correction from that perspective. I suggest you talk to experts regarding your immigration matters since your looks like a difficult case to me.

Since we had filed 140 recently. we got e-approval with notice saying actual notice will follow in mail.
Has anyone ever filed with e-approval email printout as initial evidence ?
Thanks
All that you need is 140 recepit notice to file for 485 if you do not have the approval notice. e-notice should be fine. Please talk to your attorney.
