I agree 100% with your assessment. I am certain that Apple will be modifying the Finder in the final release of Leopard (They have in every other major OS X release), and I fully expect to see that at a major demo at MWSF 07. I feel that's really where we're going to see Leopard, and hopefully by then, Vista will have gone GM, but who knows...
I don't see how adjusting the UI at the last minute could be any sort of OK. Do you really want developers using the Tiger finder for the next 7 months, and then all of the sudden Apple goes BAM (Emeril Style) and puts in a brand new finder.
I want those developers to be able to integrate the finder with their apps. If all Apple is doing is adjusting some colors or icons or something, then we shouldn't be excited about the new finder in the first place. But if Apple is going to do some major revamping, shame on them for keeping it a secret.
People need time to work with it and find all the kinks, especially if it is dramatically different from Tiger.

Oh come on, people in the USA already get the cheapest stuff. Quit complaining about everything, damn. Honestly, don't see what you don't understand. The world today is about money. Companies don't care where they build it, as long as they make the most money possible. And honestly, most consumers that are reasonable only think about paying the least for the same product.
I don't honestly give a damn where it was made. And I'm in Brazil. Oh, and by the way, things won't get cheaper here. They never do. Foxconn's profit margin is the only thing that will change. And it will rise.

Heh, yeah. I especially love all the posts about how it was a huge mistake for Apple to get into the mp3 player market (that the iPod would die a quick death and be a colossal failure).
I think that is the problem when we buy so much into the speculation and hype - Apple releases something that, on the surface, is boring (i.e. "WTF?!?!?!? It's just an MP3 player and not some revolutionary new device?!!?!?!?"), but which has a much greater chance of success than some of the more out there stuff we want them to do. As a former Newton user, for example, I would be ecstatic if Apple did release a Newton 3000 or something, but I also realize that there is a good reason they aren't doing that - there still just doesn't seem to be a widespread market for PDA's at this point. So an MP3 player might be boring, but it turned out to be a very smart move for Apple.
That just say to you how important an amazing Steve Jobs is. The man has the talent to foresees what will be a hit and what won't be.
We are luck to have him and Apple together. I remember when he was not behind Apple and how things were bad. I am glad he is there now.
The truth is what seems to be the logical thing for us might not be for him, so, I rather have him tell me that.
I hope he will stay at Apple for long, long time.

I think Apple will continue to sell it so long as its profitable. They clealry dont have many engineers dedicating lots of time to it, so if it sells theyll continue to sell it.
We might see an update to an iOS-based system similar to the nano. It may get a price drop because its specs can be met at such a lower cost today. A budget introduction to the Apple+iTunes ecosystem, perhaps? Filling the gap between the nano and the touch?

I believe the GeForce 7600 GT is on par with the X1800 GT, faster in some cases, slower in others. It's a pretty good graphics card. I would just like to see the GeForce 7600 GT bump out the 7300 GT on Mac Pro.
Cheers.
So, the 7600 GT card should be a good gaming card.
I mean, I am still looking for a replacement of my dead gaming PC, and thought the Mac Pro too expensive (don't need all 4 Cores) for my Mac needs + PC gaming needs together.
But this 24" iMac, is en excellent computer for my combined needs! (I am sure, I am not the only one who wants the Mac for every day stuff, and a PC just for gaming....)
Cheers.

Microsoft surely want to go for the easy-to-use appeal, but with just so many upgrade options, people are going to be confused from the onset. I really should apply for a Microsoft marketing position, I could take the company places (although it'd compete with the superior OS, i could make a lot of money in the mean time :p)

i don't understand why some people would long for 12 inch ones when macbook is 13 inches. don't tell me 1 inch will make that big of a difference.
actually it makes a huge difference as the macbook screen is wide aspect, as opposed to the 12in powerbook, which has a squarer screen. the footprints of each are very different, with the MB being almost as large as a MBP's footprint!

Just like you said about the Jet Pack, the Armor Lock can be really great, but you have to use it correctly. If you are all by yourself, trying to use it in a 1v1 encounter, then no, you aren't using it correctly. Using it as a distraction while teammates flank people gawking at you, using its EMP effect to disable vehicles, or using it to survive heavy weapon fire? That is correct.
Yeah, you're right. All the power ups need to be used correctly to be effective and are good in their own right.
Personally i favour the jet pack for most maps.

Guys,
Remember it's an Apple Media Event. It just means that Steve is going to intro the iPod Hi-Fi in all Black and tell us it sounds even better than before.
Man I'm so sick of this crap..
WHAT media event ??
Anybody got a link to an ACTUAL invitation?
no.

I'd take photos with an iPad. Those naysayers are ridiculous. Sure, it's not a device I'd use for frivolous photography on the fly, but it would be fine for capturing photos and videos. The iPad is still the best all-in-one video/photo/editor because of screen size.
This is the most simplistic statement.
A crap camera will never take a great picture, despite the hands it is in. It might take something vaguely enigmatic on some level, but with bad lens, inability to capture colors, or faulty mechanics/electronic, it will be nothing more than a crippling piece of equipment.
A good photographer can frame, layer, focus the subject, and compose well. Yes, you don't need a "good" camera for those qualities, but you need a well-creafted camera to back up and improve on the photographer's skills.
I think when you consider what a good photographer can do with Aperture, it might make more sense to you.

Especially when iPods first hit the scene, price was a big issue for a lot of customers. Apple products have always been on the pricey side. So perhaps the popularity of the larger capacity iPods was impacted by the pricing structure, which impacted Apple's perception of the demand.
It's getting kindof absurd seeing that hard drives keep getting bigger and cheaper. Would an iPod Touch really be that much thicker if it had 128 GB? And just how thick would (dare I say it) a 500 GB iPod Touch be? For the way I would use the device, I wouldn't mind a little extra thickness and weight.
I suppose Apple needs to keep some features in their back pocket for future releases. What if the day comes they create the perfect iPod? What then? ; )

They still do :)
The nice thing about iPad is it is that sort of a Trojan Horse consumer item.
It is far from a toy, though it is a "toy"...
I've been saying for a while that Apple is serious about getting a more established cred for their gaming business and this is another example.
Now parents can buy their kids (and themselves) a gaming device with free to $10 (...etc) games.
Long term it's a better investment than a lower cost handheld or console when you figure ALL of the games are at the price level lower than the majority of the games you'd buy (@ $20-$60 a pop) with a Nintendo/Microsoft/Sony device and aside from the Arcade level downloadable titles.
You also get FAR more utility from an iPad.
