Hey y'all. This is probably wishful thinking, but how would you go about storing and managing a 110,000 song (650GB) iTunes library on a wireless network drive?
The setup wasn't hard, but it' SO SLOW!
I plugged the 2TB USB drive with the library into an Airport Extreme, connected to it over the wireless network, opened iTunes while holding 'alt', and chose the library on the network drive. Unfortunately, it's so slow that scrolling and searching are next to impossible. And forget about AirTunes!
The goal would be to have that whole library accessible from my laptop and then played through AirTunes speakers.
Like I said, this is probably just wishful thinking, but has anyone else set up a system like this?

The wii always had love...its small, kinda cheap, wii sports, multiplayer games, swinging of the arms...great combo.
I'm seeing a few wii consoles pop up in my local GS/BB in NYC so all in the Manhattan area head out to 129th next to the Apollo...you might find one

I cant speak for the porsche, but the LaCie d2 is a great drive. I have a 250GB one w/ FW800 and its great. i've had it for 9-10 months now, and it hasnt frozen or crashed on me or anything. It emits a very light hum, and i rarely hear the drive. the only time it makes a lot of noise is when im capturing video, or scrubbing really quickly in FCP.

I have been using a that crucial stick in my 15" pb and my wife in her 12" ibook. both have been running great. Just my opinion, but I would recomend getting mac certified.

Wow there's so much variety in everyone's preferences. I feel pretty ignorant not even hearing about EE or silverstripe until this thread (also for mixing Ruby on Rails as a CMS rather than a framework :o ) I really enjoy theming in Drupal, although it is a challenge.

It may have something running in the background that prevents the automatic sleeping. Check system prefs, accounts, your account, login items to see if it starts up automatically at login. If it does, select that and click the minus button. You can also check activity monitor to see if there are programs running in the background keeping it awake.

I've learned over time that zooming is really something you shouldn't do often. So many people think they can make amazing videos by zooming in and out all the time when really the zooming just hurts them.
It can be dramatic if done right, and sparingly, but it should not be overused. And always disable the "digital" zoom option on any camera. It's optical zoom, or nohing.
I'd recommend not using copyrighted music without the proper permissions.
Certainly for anything shared publicly (although YouTube seems to be changing the rules by allowing you to use certain tracks as long as they get to link to the artist credits and a "buy track" page on iTunes/Amazon). I'd say it should be OK for personal use and for learning how to edit against music.

There was a recent thread where someone posted the XML link to two full copies of the drivers. You may be able to pull the drivers out of one of those packages. (LINK: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=892725)
Do you happen to have an Apple remote? You can bring up the boot loader by holding play during boot.
EDIT: 7-zip can get you into a pkg file.

I got some relief from a similar problem when I set my mail to check for new mail less often than I had previously set it. Seems some servers don't like it when you access too often. I'm at every 5 minutes now, with no problems. Maybe this would work for you?
