And this is why I say it can go either way. The release of the C2D mac systems are not dependent upon the rebate IMO. It might happen or it might not. My guess is that Apple is not releasing their new computers based upon when the rebate ends. They'll simply release them, and if they happen to fall within the rebate period, that's not necessarily by design. But it is our good fortune. :)
i completely agree. this rebate has zero bearing on the new merom machines.

The file contains a log of the cell towers you connected to and when. That's it. This is why the dots are in grids that get bigger the as you leave populated areas and routinely include places you haven't been within 30 miles of.
Note that the grid pattern is faked by the demo reader program to hide actual locations.
(Cells aren't in perfect grids anyway.)
This information is most likely used for connection quality monitoring and caching for Assisted GPS cold starts. It is also the same information stored by your cell phone provider no matter what phone you use. As such, "Big Brother" already has the ability to access to this information.
Or it's leftover code from development and testing.

I predict that in 2015, iOS handset users will still have the highest customer satisfaction and that Apple will be walking away with the lion's share of the smartphone industry's profits.
Meaning there will be more grumpy non-iPhone users and more grumpy HTC/Nokia/Samsung/Motorola/LG shareholders.
By 2015, the iPhone will be implanted in the back of our necks and interface directly with our brain. It will get battery power from our neural system.
I got burned once, and only once with the best Windows Phone of the time, the HTC Rhodium. I hate that phone so much!
All the people I know who got the WinMo7 phone told me it sucks!
M$ is so far behind in this market, and the ITC seems to be smoking barely-legal substances to come up with such hallucinations.

Canada is sounding awfully good to me right now.
Minimum wage is $8.80 in my province (one of the lower wages in Canada, but also relatively low taxes), but you could easily make $11 min. at a good few fast food places. The average official minimum wage is probably around $9.30 here. The taxes we pay are higher, but then there's the healthcare and other social things. Perhaps we can continue that, if we get rid of our current PM who wants Canada to be a smaller-population more-land version of the States...

Unfortunately, cats are known liars.
They're purposely getting our hopes up just to let us down. It weakens us. Humbles us. After hearing no announcements tomorrow all we will do is sulk around, giving us more time to give them more dried food.
They're still pissed about the MagSafe connector... that ruined things for them.

But, I didn't "jump" immediately - I always wait a couple of months to see what issues develop with the product line (the 17" range seems to have some graphics issues evidently, which seem to be resolved now) - BUT, with this rumor, do I plump down $4k for a maxed-out MBP now or wait until this new case design ?!?!?!
I would wait. Considering Lion is coming out also, you might as well wait for the next refresh which I'm sure will be optimized for Lion.

SSDs still need to get cheaper before I plunk down money on a MBA. The capacities need to increase too. Ah..maybe a few years from now.

that's because samsung supplies all these companies with parts for their phones. Sue Samsung, risk getting the shaft on internals! We'll see what happens.
Apple has many, many billions just sitting in the bank. Morals and rivalries are always set aside when money comes into play. Samsung may not like the fact that they're getting sued by them, but you can sure as hell bet they won't care when Apple is looking to give them billions of dollars for their products.
Will be settled out of court with no disclosure of terms. Fees/royaltys will be paid....life goes on.
These are business actions and have little to do with what's right and wrong.
This is most likely what will happen. There'll be a lot of angry looks and huffed chests coming from both camps, but it'll all work out.

i dont know much about this, but does this mean i can stream to my ps3 now?
Not yet. This just means that it's now very possible for someone to develop an app to do it.

And what does that have to do with the app store trademark? He doesn't mention "app store" does he?
No mention of App store. I was just watching the video recently and found it interesting.

When did 'reached out' become a better phrase to use than simply 'contacted'?
When one is trying to impart a sense of altruism to the actors, one says they "reached out." This implies a wholesome, good-faith effort to initiate dialog with a possibly resistant adversary. When the adversary does not comment, the correct framing in this case will be that they "refused" to reply, even if they simply had no response at all.
Basic spin doctoring ;)

The difference is with a client I can show them a prototype, or mock up, prior to having to put all the resources into creating a fully functioning app.
I don't know about you, but I have done it many, many times, and I have never encountered a client who doesn't want at the end to tweak and add and tweak and sometimes reject, then conditionally approve, their way to deployment.

Milo.I have my MacBook sitting next to and connected via S-Video to my TV and use iTunes sharing via Airport to watch videos almost every day..
The key to good quality over iTunes sharing is to make the movie hinted.
And it streams just fine..
I never said the streaming isn't possible. I just said there isn't a HARDWARE device like the airport that makes this possible without a computer.
Having to leave a computer hooked up to the TV all the time (or drag over a laptop) isn't a convenient solution. An airport box with video output IS a new solution, and something not available now.

I would figure in the meantime they would continue to sell products in areas that they are not restricted. Oh well.
They would. If you've checked out the iSight it has a ship date of October.
My guess is they stopped making them in order to redesign them. And since they have to redesign them why not make them better.wink...wink...nudge...nudge..;)

Cloud storage already exists. Look at dropbox, amazon, wuala, Carbonite. Lots of stuff which can handle user files and media already. Again, the person I quoted was talking about things in 2016, so quite possible for things to change by then.
He was talking about the fact that "Cloud storage" uses physical media. ;) The cloud is not some kind of magic thing, it's just a bunch of physical disks and servers. And those disks and servers aren't anything special either, they are your typical server computer and the disks are also your standard server based disk, grouped up in a volume manager over massive raid arrays.

Actually, he is right. The two use different protocols when streaming. The video portion of AirPlay is done differently and does not require the private key. It just employs setting up a "server" whenever its being utilized. I have it set up on XBMC, and it works just as it would on an AppleTV.
The audio portion, that requires the key, has finally brought it full-circle. Can't wait to have it on my XBMC box.
I never said the audio and the video didn't work differently, what I said was AirTunes no longer exists. AirPlay contains what was AirTunes. Apple no longer use the label 'AirTunes' anywhere. http://www.apple.com/airportexpress/features/airplay.html only talks about AirPlay for instance. The iTunes streaming button is now called AirPlay too.
AirPlay video simply sends a URL to the video resource to the other device, and the other device plays the file at the URL which is served by the host. AirPlay audio uses the RAOP protocol.
There isn't a misprint in the article title as the poster claimed - the AirTunes moniker doesn't exist anymore
