I was already on the phone with Apple and they said the page is bogged down and to give it some time to cool off. My battery was in the range, Apple told me it was, and the app still doesn't work. Save some time and try again tomorrow or later tonight when people should be asleep.
I guess that you're awake when I'm asleep (and the other way round)... in fact... it's 01:10 right now and I need to get up at 7:45... better go to bed and give the rest an opportunity to visit the battery exchange pages ;)

Ok I guess i won't be able to get the new nano with the student offer, which doesn;t bother me that much as I *should* get a hundred pounds back. However as it seems the price has gone down a little on the 4GB nano i added does that mean i still have to pay the old price? That seems a little unfair when it hasn't even shipped yet I'm paying more then if I had waited a couple of days? I ordered on Friday btw.

This is for developers, they come to see what kind of software they need to develop. They don't really care for hardware, and they don't pay this much just to see the announcement of the iPhone, something they could have seen online or just read about. This is all about discussing what Apple wants developers to do in their programming.
Please, its about both. For you cannot have software development without the hardware.
iOS 5 seems to be a draw this time. Sure hope there is enough there to make folks feel like they got their monies worth.

Than what did get hacked?
The wireless card that was plugged into the macbook.
I know what youre saying, and they have made it clear, this isnt an attack on macs that allowed this hack. any machine is supposedly open to be 'hacked.'
Yeah, but their presentation was extremely poor. If it was to show that ANY system could be hacked, why choose a set up that is EXTREMELY improbable and unlikely? It weakens their case and encourages folks to dismiss them.

Ah good to see that it's not worth upgrading my Core Duo MB to the new one, I think the speed increase wil lbe negligble (comparing a 1.83Ghz CD with 1.83C2D)
I think that's right, for the most part.
Those Core Duo MB owners might consider a hardrive upgrade, to a 7200rpm drive, for a nice speedbump.

In addition to my promise to run around naked and post the video to the Internet if iMac gets Conroe, I will do the same if they introduce a phone at WWDC.
Not happening.
Enjoy being clean for a while
If the iMac gets Conroe it will be worth waiting for, especially as it looks likely (from what I read about here) Conroe will be released in July.
If the iMac gets Conroe, I will run naked across my apartment parking lot, film it and post it on the net.
Gotcha !!! :D ;)

I'm not sure how serious all the offers that Qaddafi has reportedly received for asylum, but there does seem to be some effort to help him leave.
I've also been thinking that the Arab League's support of the NFZ is probably in part because if all those EU and NATO planes are busy in Libya, they can't be flying over Yemen or Syria or any other troubled ME country.
The problem with Libya is that Qaddafi has encouraged tribal rivalries on a large scale. Post Qaddafi, Libya could end up a factionalized nightmare.

Yup, most of the waste is for military technology and planes like the raptor that were built for cold-war style fighting. That era is dead. No offense intended, but that poster clearly has NO IDEA what the US uses its ridiculously large military budget for.
Hey I love the F-22 Raptor.
Even though air-air combat is hardly seen today, it doesn't mean we should abandon fighter jets. I agree that we don't need as many Raptors right now so building up our fleet of them is wasteful. But, we can't be a reactive military in the sense of our equipment. This isn't WWII anymore where a new plane can be developed within a few years. It takes far longer to develop a new fighter jet. So the Raptor is a necessary plane. We just don't need a sizable fleet of them right now.

I'm hoping the FaceTime bugs are addressed. On the iPhone 4 and iPad 2, I get the cached image or black screen instead of live camera. A restart fixes it in case you experience it.

While I'm happy that this is probably the reason for the increased battery life, I'm concerned about the life span of the screen. How much of a limited span are we talking about?
Edit: according to wikipedia, 5,000 hrs. For comparison, a typical LCD has a life of 50,000 hrs (30,000 hrs for lamp). You may be right about the LCDs (I've not seen this as an issue with the iPods, though), but Apple (and others) calculate Battery lifespan in charge cycles, not hours:
A properly maintained iPod battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity after 400 full charge and discharge cycles. You may choose to replace your battery when it no longer holds sufficient charge to meet your needs.(Link (http://www.apple.com/batteries/ipods.html))
That should give about 8-10 000 hours for the new 24 hour capacity nanos, if my calculations aren't way off... :)
So you'll need to change the battery 3-5 times before you start worrying about the screen... and that is with the newest, and best batteries... older batteries had lower capacity, and thus lifespan....

You would think it was a U2 concert or something.
I have been to the past 2 WWDCs. I got 2 tickets yesterday, one for myself and one for my Director of Engineering. I debated on buying that second or holding off. Glad I didn't hold off.
I certainly understand the Keynote is the most exciting thing. Hey, I still tell people Steve Jobs yelled at me (and everybody else in the room) last year during it.
The sessions are good, but the labs are even better. Normally, Apple development support is mediocre on a good day for any of the new APIs. Sending an email only waiting for a vague response. But WWDC is something different. You can get your code reviewed and get direct answers to questions. If you are a serious developer, this show is worth te price of buying a scalped ticket. :D

That's HOT (figuratively and literally)!! I think the only way you could pull that off is with an external tuner, just like laptops have an external power supply.
Does a TV tuner add THAT much heat? Plus, with 23" of real estate to play with I would think that they could find a way to keep the heat down

That's as funny as the RIM CEO defending the PlayBook by saying email "really isn't a core element."

Also, it's nice to know that us iOS users are unaffected by the latest Flash exploit for Android.

Not bad for not being the "best" because Windows and Android is better right?
You are comparing software to hardware. Simply put in terms off hardware mac does not have the best. Neither Google or Microsoft produce their own computers. I think you missed the comment completely

Ever owned a 12" powerbook? I have two.
There's a reason a lot of 12" powerbook owners rave on about them. The form factor is very neat. It sure isn't about how powerful they are :).
Too right. My Rev. A will have to be completely dead before I replace it with a 13" MacBook. The only way I'll buy another laptop before then is if Apple come out with a 12" MBP.
Not slagging off the MacBooks by saying that. I just love my PB12". Best laptop ever IMO.

Palm and Android both allow this if I recall.
Yet still both platforms aren't nearly as good as the iPhone in general terms. As far as their application distribution, not nearly as good either. Just search the web for all the hate that people give Android Market.

In the 2 years I've had an iPhone, I haven't once visited a website that has needed Flash. Personally I really don't care if the iPhone gets it or not. It does the sites I need.
All this is, is Apple thinking it knows better than the consumer, a Steve Jobs mentality. I like his thinking but I'd like to see an actually push by Apple to make things better then.

I think this is wonderful news! But not surprising. People have been waiting for this for so long. We always knew this partnership was meant to be, for it was written, or rather sung...After all, in the song “A Hard Day’s Night” there is a line that has a double reference to Apple Computers.
"You know I work all day to get you money to buy you things"
The reference to "iWork" is obvious, and it’s disappointing no one noticed this earlier. This is the Beatles urging people to use iWork instead of Microsoft Word when doing stuff for business.
But more importantly, if you play the second part of this line backward, “to buy you things” (http://homepage.mac.com/autrefois/macrumors/ipodbeatles2.m4a), you can clearly can hear John Lennon singing “Now ya have a iPod” (http://homepage.mac.com/autrefois/macrumors/ipodbeatles.m4a).
Sure, it should be "an iPod", but it's amazing enough the Beatles knew back in 1964 that the iPod would exist, we don't need to quibble over their grammar here. So expect a Beatles and Apple Computer partnership soon, with a clear possibility of a Beatles iPod -- you wanted the Beatles on iTunes, well now ya have a iPod!
For any naysayers out there, listen to the song clips yourself on the links above or use your own copy (for example, once you download it from iTunes in the near future!). This at long last explains why in the forward version of the song John clearly sings " thin' " instead of "things" — all the time there was a backward message about the iPod just waiting to be discovered.
Now what's this I hear about Paul being dead?
:)
Anyway, this will be great once people can finally get Beatles songs from the iTunes Store. The greatest music group on the greatest music store.
