The 21.5'' has a 512MB GPU while the 15'' MBP has a 1GB GPU, same chipset. There's no reason why would they do this except to push potential buyers to the 27''. This is ridiculous. If it were to keep the iMac price down, they would've added as a BTO.

oh ok. i did see a core i7-860 running at 3.8 somewhere. but 43 - 45 mins a frame should be about right i think. wouldn't you get a bonus with that?

iPad running Mac OS 9! Just what I always wanted!
About a week ago, I fired up an old PowerBook 2400 on which OS 9 is installed. (Needed to remove some pictures from a really old digital camera that uses pre-OSX software). It was the first time I'd used OS9 in several years.
Anyway, after getting the photos off the camera, for kicks I fired up a web browser and a few other apps. I was pretty impressed at how speedy some of the things were running, even on PowerBook that is now 14 years old!

Whoever has been saying that any of the future Mobile Me + Cloud stuff would be free is probably just projecting wishful thinking anyway.
Apple's Cloud is a natural extension of Mobile Me, but I don't have any fantasies that any of it will be free -- and as an Apple Stockholder, I would be upset if Apple was spending all that money "out of the goodness of their hearts" ... they need to continue to GROW and that means the costs should not only be recovered, but would hopefully be a source of at least a little margin.

To those waiting for iPhone 5: Do we know when that'll be? Last rumor was Sept right? I'm not in the market, the sooner it comes the sooner I'll want to replace my iPhone4. It'd be nice for them to stay on schedule every June/July.

Wouldn't it be helpful to see a Gmail-style snippet of your new emails visible when you unlock your phone? Or possibly a small calendar display so you can see at a glance that there's a meeting you're booked into later? I guess it might be difficult to integrate these things without dramatically reducing the space visible for apps but I can imagine a lot of people having a use for this kind of functionality and Apple is denying people the choice at the moment.
I think it may be useful for the lock screen. For home screen I don't think it's much more effective than just launching separate apps to look at mail or calendar.
Anyway, I don't think that it's bad to have widgets or customization, I just think that it's not that important. It will make iOS better, but only a tiny bit better, it won't be any huge step forward.

For example, if I run Word on PC and click open file, then it will show me the whole filesystem with thousands of browseable folders, but only few of them actually contain any Word documents. Ideally, what I should be able to see instead is list of all Word documents on my computer and all connected devices in a very organized way that makes it easy to find any document in less than a second. I shouldn't care that one part of a report is in my local folder, another part is on flash drive and some other part is written by another dude and is on a network server, but file system wants me to care of these irrelevant things. I can think of hundreds other examples where file system gets in the way of organization and productivity. Basically, it's not the best way to manage documents and media and it should be superseded by something entirely different. So a friend told me there was a gathering in Boston Common a few miles away. I didn't leave my house until almost 2AM so I was a bit late but I stuck around until the police got the crowd to disperse. I only had my on camera flash and there is NO LIGHT there so I did what I could.
That's awesome. Tomorrow will definitely be a huge day of celebration in the US. The news came kinda late at night.

The new MacBook Air, 11.6'' base model. Going to New York during christmas and will buy there the new Air. Here in The Netherlands it costs 1000 euro, in the USA it's around 700 euro (converted dollar - euro). Difference of 300 euro!

One of the best parts of my recent vacation was swimming with, and hand feeding, the stringrays at Stingray City, a sandbar off Grand Cayman Island where a large population of them congregate. I am not too keen on this "cartoony" 3D effect Apple seem to be going for.

It really does seems as if the cutesyeness of the iOS is spreading over to OSX.
I'd prefer a clean modern OS with usability first and foremost.

I don't disagree with you on this. I am by no means whatsoever advocating that everyone should gain a hundred or so pounds just because I happen to like plenty of curves. What this person was hinting at doing is indeed physically dangerous, in fact just as dangerous long-term as a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass or other drastic weight-loss measure.
Thank goodness she recanted her statement afterward. I think she was starting to enjoy the publicity after the first couple of media appearances-- it's not everyday a big girl gets attention, y'know-- but after a while she saw the negative aspect of that publicity and decided it wasn't for her.

Oh Apple Mail has a To Do list. And Notes. But the Calendar is a separate app, as is the Address Book. So why not also have a separate To Do and Notes application? Oh, because they're stored as special formatted email messages in Mail.app, that's why. So how about integrating Calendar and Address Book better in Mail. It's a mess.

This is a very impressive upgrade. 16GB and 2 Drives in a 21.5" ? that's wonderful. This bodes very well for future Mac releases across the board. I really hope all of the kinks of the last 2 years are worked out.
Will watch very carefully > I'm really not wanting to get another iMac but I hope these kinds of upgrades will become common place. This would be the machine I'd get for work since video/web design etc. is becoming part of my duties, if my job 1) supported Mac use and 2) funded the darn thing.

If this white iPhone 4 does not fit the official Apple Bumper then I can see this as a problem. Otherwise its a moot point, my case is made out of rubber and it is still capable to stretch a little to fit a little more or less in size.
Too bad for those who spent money on a "fitting" case.

It use SOOOOOOO little amount of memory compare to Parallels (4xxMB vs 2.xxGB), so there is better system performance. I cannot wait to test it on my Macbook but the different on my Mac Pro was HUGE!!
I agree. VMware is already very good for a private beta (don't ask me how I got it ;)). Very fast already, and the app itself starts up about 5x faster than Parallels. And it uses a Cocoa native interface yay!

I'm downloading in the vain hope that Apple will have fixed the bug that sees third party apps no longer display their launch animation on first run ... hope that will soon be dashed in 600 or so wonderful megabytes.
