My wife is from a professional management environment and is not very impressed with iWork, pages specifically. We are doing a trial of it and we are thinking of doing the same for Office 2011 but are wondering that if in trial mode, will we be able to access the update?

I was so angry last night to find out there was no longer any Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, or NatGeo :mad:
Quite frankly, I just don't see the difference between what is being offered in my home from the box or from my iPad other than screen size. If the big networks feel as though by pulling their channels from this app is another way for them to figure out how to create revenue, than that sucks. Seems as though they may see some sort of HuluPlus opportunity here. As it was, there were already ads/commercials in the TWC iPad app to begin because it's live TV programming streamed to the iPad.

Are people overestimating Apple's motives? Could it perhaps not be a masterplan but just that the new motherboard, etc they are using just happens to have this component so it's been included? That could explain why it's hidden around the back. If being placed on the back is deliberate it could just be for aesthetics sake as ports on the front will look messy.

If you look at this picture of the new Mini's logic board (http://s1.guide-images.ifixit.net/igi/eBGMrGURJuJjcmlh.huge) from iFixIt's teardown, it looks like the logic board is just wide enough at the front (right side of the board) of the housing to have accommodated the SD card slot. But it looks like it would have been at the expense of either growing the housing so an inserted card sat flush with it, or having the card stick out significantly (and asymmetrically) from the rounded corner.
I really don't get why people who come up with specs don't think ahead. When SD came out it has a 2GB limit. So they updated it, SDHC for a 32GB limit. Now they had to update it again, SDXC for a 2TB limit. They should have just designed the format to scale in the FIRST place.
For example: CompactFlash came out in like 1994 and has scaled all the way up to like 137GB, when the first cards were under 1MB.

I'm with you. I already catched myself looking up a number in my nano's address book ("contacts") and looking for the "call" item. I'd love to have the main menu going "Music \n Phone \n Phone \n Extras etc." But the nano might actually be a little small for a phone. Try holding one at your ear for a minute. How about an add-on that you plug in on the bottom via the dock connector? Makes the thing a little longer and you can just upgrade your iPod. Kinda like the iTrip, but in the exact same design as the iPod itself.
No way would an iPhone launch without a keypad. Text messaging is too popular. I think it will be a slider phone, though, so they keyboard is tucked away until you need it.
And I don't think the nano length is too short for a phone. My SonyEricsson is the same height as the Nano.

You're right that this state does have one of the highest deficits and tax rates for high incomes. However, if you look at the figures, despite the tax rate, Californians still earn more per capita on average than Texans. If you're looking to save money, it doesn't necessarily make sense to move.
Without going into the chicken/egg of it, Californians have to earn more since their housing costs are roughly 2/3 higher than Texas (per bankrate.com's cost of living comparison calculator as of this morning).
We earn less, but pretty much everything also costs less here.

I hope this doesn't come across as overly whiny, but it has been just about the ********* month of my life.
My dad died suddnely, totally unexpected, in his sleep on the 14th of last month, and I'm still crying about it. My grandmother (we were totally tight) died two weeks later. My sister's house in N.O. escaped total destruction, but she can't go back. My nephew flipped his Explorer - luckily he is OK. My partner's mother had heart surgery two days ago....
I need to get away for a couple of days, at not much expense, and away from hoarding crowds. Something fun, totally different and totally mind numbing. Can anyone give me ideas on a +/- 500.00 couple of days?
Just need to get away. :D

If you were to take another whack at it, you might consider placing an object or a person in a window or in the doorway to serve as a focal point. As it is, there isn't really one place in the frame that serves as the primary visual pay-off or subject of the image. Also, you might try an exposure that gives you some more range of tonality, since the blacks are really crushed here, and they occupy large areas of the frame.

How much RAM do you have? In my Late 2009 MBP, whenever I play in the 9400m(256 mb ram), it changes the quality to low, which is still pretty good IMO. Just more cartoony, thats all. Im guessing you will have to play on low though, but you *shouldn't* have a problem.
I've got the full 3GB that it'll recognize. I'm mostly concerned about the old video card.

Their entire careers depend on maintaining an OS that needs constant maintenance. Windows is inherently broken, and an entire industry grew up to take full advantage of exactly that. Too funny.

Apple is not to blame here, if you read the comments below you'll see the cell providers are:

...maybe I could have found more with different search words, but I think this tells the real story, cell phones get their time from their cell service which is more localized and not maintained/monitored the same way as your ISP for your computer. (I've had clock setting issues when traveling w/laptop, but normally you are in one or two places at most w/laptop and not reliant upon a network of cell towers with more variables).
Calendar events are reliant upon the time being set right in the phone, again, not apple's fault, the cell carrier's problem. This has been an issue since people starting using smart phones (of any brand) for their alarm.

In the snow areas more damage is done to the roads with thawing and freezing than the cars driving over them. Road salts eat through quicker than cars just driving on them. Sure the cars add to the wear but they are not the only factor. As long as we plow and treat the roads they will need to be repaired quicker regardless of how much traffic there is.

Yes, assuming Sony buys an exclusive... which is not the case here. Apple's goal appears to be to get lots of companies to play ball. Take out the exclusivity element, and it's just another benefit to tout (though not a headline benefit).
For example, my new Samsung has a whole bunch of apps. I can plug media right into USB ports and play it there. Etc. I wouldn't see this Airplay feature as any more "wow" than those features, certainly not enough to build much advertising around it in hopes of selling more TVs.
Again, not against building in Airplay, just not believing that it's a great idea to try to sell the licenses and get limited takers vs. give them away and get more takers. It seems like a technology you would want to entrench everywhere rather than yet another one that might get some limited adoption due to cost (even $4 per TV is a lot of added cost to a TV manufacturer).

You guys are forgetting that the LV and ULV version of the HD3000 is underclocked compared to the normal voltage version. So while the normal ones are the same as the 320M, the underclocked LV and ULV ones are definitely not going to match up to the 320M.

3. Processor speed for phones is overrated, especially when apps are written to account for legacy hardware in the wild. No one is going to write an A-5 only App as long as the iPad 1, iPhone 4 & 3GS level tech remains so widely held.

I really don't recall there being much of a line for Tiger. I think I got into town about quarter to 6 and still got in and picked up my copy of Tiger and a scratchcard within minutes of 6pm.
