The .mac mail has been an embarrassment to Apple for some time. Ugly as sin and very limited. Strange, but Comcast updated their webmail interface this week also. The one feature I wish that Apple would add (unless I've missed it) is a button for "report as spam." I get more spam from my .mac account than from my Comcast account; with Comcast, you can report it and have the sender blocked.

From my experience, it's the Finder that's slow, not iDisk. I access my iDisk (the few times I need to) from Transmit and it is very fast.

I don't really understand your confusion here: the government is essentially selling the taxpayer a bundle of services. If they lower the price, it costs them money. Surely that isn't so complicated?

I think it's to hide how good OS X is. ;)
To be honest, this is a smart move from Microsoft. If there is one thing I cannot stand about Apple, it is the silly prices they charge. The Apple Tax is stupid.
Apple definitely has the coolness going and the "halo" affect from its iPhone and iPads but in this tough economic time. Its hard to 30% and more for a Mac and you're not getting any much different in terms of hardware (other then a glowing apple logo)

Most successful desktop operating system: Microsoft Windows.
Most successful server operating system: Microsoft Windows Server.
Most successful office suite: Microsoft Office.
Three good reasons (and there would be more like Exchange Server, Sharepoint Portal, SQL Server, Visual Studio) to also have confidence in the man if he were hired as a product manager.
Completely unrelated. Despite the fact that being the most successful != being the best (Or infact being reality), the guy should be hired based on his CV and own leadership skills, not the work of other PMs and Engineers.
Like it or not, Microsoft still is the most IMPORTANT software company around, and they don't hire incompetent idiots either.
Great last pitch there. Maybe I should start going on about how RedHat and Oracle essentially run the world. Might balance out all the crap by having it coming out form all sides. I mean, RedHat AND Oracle don't hire idiots. >.>

They're going to realize that the existing machines they have- or Windows machines that can be had for much cheaper- are quite capable of handling any non-classified activity without switching to new hardware.
The Government, I mean serious government, with big purchasing power gets great deals on Mac's better than you think and competitive to the high end systems you might get from Dell etc

United is the ONLY airline that does this.
I wish they all did. Its a great way to enjoy the flight.
As for the ipod plugins, its great the only downside I see is it forces Apple into a single connector / body shape for future ipods. It would suck to release a new ipod that isn't useable on your next flight.

i know a lot of people on this forum have some very nice computer power. and i'm sure they do use them 24/7 either. we could be a great team. i'm doing all i can already

I got the new facebook update for bug fixes on syncing but not for the fact that I can't hear when I get a notification... I got no sound...

I'm sure that this works for a lot of people, but not me.
I travel frequently in the Adirondacks where there NO AT&T service, not even Edge. The whole concept of the ADK region is for it to remain pristine forest and mountain, unspoiled by cell towers. That concept isn't going to change without a NYS Constitutional Amendment, and that is not going to happen in our lifetime.
I think the whole point of having GPS on the iPhone is to be able to get maps as needed. Garmin is missed the boat.
