DOn't be panic, but I would suggest you not to go to Canada/Mexico for stamping. I heard through my friends that there is always a risk to deny visa stamping from Canada/Mexico, and the consular officer might ask you to apply your visa in your home country.
I lost my passport, which had F1 Visa, and chose to go back home and apply for H1B visa. Consular officer at Chennai Consulate asked copy of student visa and police report stating that my passport was lost/stolen.

To my horror, I accidently lost my wife's passport, i am such a stupid...She had the stamps for F-2 and H-4.
We have police report for the lost passport.
I already checked Indian embessy's website, they have instructions for duplicate passport.
My question is what happens to the Visa stamps. Does she have to go back to India to get it stamped? Can she go to coutry's like Canada and Mexico to get it stamped? would that be very difficult to get a new stamp?

I have been in US for 12 years now starting from F1 to several H1-bs. The IO did not look for anything. He just looked at the photo page for identification, AP copies

I have H1 approval I-797 with me (received in last year quota) and H4 approval (which was applied before applying H1). Now I have a family emergency back home. I have to travel asap. My current H4 stamp in the passport is expired. So I have to go for stamping, either it be using H1 or using H4. Since I am unemployed at present I can't use H1 for stamping. If I come back on H4, what will happen to my H1 status? Will it be still valid to accept an employment or becomes void.
Please share your thoughts...

If your spouse is maintaining H1 status, you can go for H4 visa stamping. You may also use AP to travel.
If you re-enter US on H4, your status will be H4. However, if you have valid EAD, you can use that for work.

Then, I am unlucky then...Can you check your message please...i got interviewed in 10/2005 in Boston and once again in July 2008. They mentioned it is pending visa number available..

I am also in the same situation and I asked my attorney. He said that if we can get notarized affidavits from Parents then it is sufficient. So get the format from your attorney and get it signed by your parents. They need at least 2 affidavits who were present at the time of the birth.

Yes, I did leave after being here more 8 years when my AP was approve i went back to China in 2008. The after 3 weeks visit my family I returned to United States and admitted back ok.

We have a company lawyer. Only thing I have is 485 receipts, FP notice, EAD and AP.
Nothing has been shared with us till I-140 approval.
Upon my demands, all I got is my I-140 application number. My HR dept has a strict position that I-140 & LC are employer documents and it will NOT BE Shared with employees.
I still doubt that USCIS will expect me to have these documents.
Any ideas How can I know job description? Can I call USCIS? dont' think they will entertain?
I am about to file for H1B extension. Is there anything here that can give me some idea about job description? I guess H1B and LCA job description should be same. isn't it???
One way to find out is, when you filled in your labor application (before PERM). Your attorney, just before filing for labor should have send you some papers to sign and fax it or mail it through post.
There either you or your attorney shold have filled in job descriptions and job details (this should be the latest experience you had before filing the labor).
One more way to find out, while filling in your I 140 petition if your attorney has send you documents to verify. Then you would find Job title specified in there.
After you filed for labor and and if you have specified your address in labor, then a copy of certified labor goes to that address ( I have received one, it said a copy of the certified labor has been CC'd to Employer and attorney)
To my knowledge that would be your best bet to find out job description and job title with out having labor cert in hand as I 140 approval does not say any thing.

My PD is Dec 2005 (EB2) and I'm on EAD. I dont know when I'll get the GC but hoping that I'll get it in the next year. I already got an RFE so I'm not expecting another one. The question is, if I get laid off now, can I buy a business (say a convenience store or a subway) and run it (while on EAD)? and would it cause any problems now or in the future when applying for citizenship? I know you have to work in same or similar industry, but my industry is hard hit with recession and I don't think I can find a similar job. So how will they enforce this? Or do they even care?

What else do you want Bro. Give 30 days time to USCIS to send your card. we, most of us, would me more satisfied just to see the magical words - Current Status: Card production ordered in our case status.
Regarding holding card in physically, have to wait some time. Which should not be more taxing than waiting to see the magical words.
I started calling my friends the same night that I got GC, but back in my mind I was still not sure and thought "whatif USCIS made a mistake" and thought may be I should wait until I get the card.
I have spent coupla nights searching forums what kind of email people get when GC approved. I found most get Approval Email and Card production. I got only one email. I am still not able to believe I got GC. It was like a distant dream few weeks ago.

140 APPROVED.
In addition to the first RFE as above,i received one more RFE.In the second RFE they mentioned that education and experience satisfies labour,but wanted more documents from company to prove A2P.Company sent tax returns and got the approval in 6 days.Yet to receive the notice.

Before I say any thing further, I want to clarify that I am NOT asking for any action but want to point out to a unique Gandhigiri protest idea proposed by one of our members:
On one of the posts rajmehrotra suggested "Something like a mass blood donation drive will garner empathy and publicity in a positive way." This was seconded by another member Gravitation. Not sure what other people think but I personally liked this idea very much.
So please save this idea for future use if others also recommend it.

Well, I did not expect that an Immigration attorney was asking for such letter from previous employer. But I think she might want me to aware a dark whole down the line.
I kept my fingers cross .............
I have disclosed all the information to attorney as I was paying bill. And I felt it would be good disclose at attorney and Dr (Old Indian saying).

Yes, Labor substitutions had stopped from Aug 2007 onwards. I mean those were allowed till July 2007 and before. Since I substituted before Aug2007 so that has been acepted by USCIS and processed my case.

Responding to RFE for Ability to Pay is a very complex process. Some of you folks make it sound very simple but there is much more to it then just submitting an Audited Tax Return or W2. I have not come across any single person who seems to have the expert knowledge on handling this other than United Nations. There was an RFE on my pending I140 and I don't even trust the response prepared by my immigration attorney at Murthy Law Firm. My case is pending at USCIS TSC for a year now. I am not defaming anyone here but United Nations is the only person who has the greatest knowledge on addressing this matter.
