There is absolutely no, no, no way that Intel did not enter a contractual agreement with Apple that explicitly prohibits or deters Apple from using AMD's competitive products. Intel and Apple's partnership - not the traditional buyer-seller - extends into R&D and other considerable investments. Additionally, Apple is too small of a company to be able to leverage their volume in a way that would free them from such an agreement. Bottom line? We won't see an AMD in Apple for another 2-3 years, if it were to happen at all.

I ordered the Hardened Edition for the 360 @ Best Buy for local store pickup.
I have quite a few reward zone points & a gift card or two, so it was a no brainer.
Turns out it was the only way to pre order special editions @ Best Buy, otherwise if you pre order in store you can only pre order the regular edition. Gamestop capped their pre orders for hardened editions, so it was the only way for me to 'guarantee' a copy of the hardened edition. Seems the hardened edition maybe the popular one.
Looking forward to playing CoD again, as I stopped shortly after the overly expensive map packs started getting released.

Ahh, I didn't realize it was intended that long ago. Now that it is an open standard, though, Adobe shouldn't really have much say in it now, right?
As we've all read a lot about recently, open standard is not open source. I'm sure Adobe and Microsoft have an arrangement.

Since I was just thinking of upgrading my router from a Linksys to Airport Extreme, the announcement of Time Capsule was a welcome surprise. The pricing is pretty competitive when you consider what a 1 TB external firewire + Airport Extreme router would cost. (Although I do like the Drobo a lot, its pretty expensive once you add drives in it.) Time Capsule will be nice for Time Machine on both my iMac and MacBook.
Apple TV got off life support today. The iTunes movie rental announcement is HUGE, considering that ALL the major movie studios are onboard. It supports HD (720p is OK by me for now) and 5.1 surround sound, and doesn't require a computer for purchases or rentals. Too bad I don't have a widescreen HDTV, or I may actually buy one, but at least I can rent movies for my MacBook and/or iPod when I travel.
Since I don't own an iPhone or iPod Touch, the announcements here didn't do much for me. Tracking your location without a GPS is cool, and multiple messaging is fine, but to me, these are just evolutionary updates. Charging $20 for upgrading the iPod Touch is unfair, but might be related to accounting practices and reporting. I will be more excited about the iPhone and iPod Touch once the SDK comes out and third party apps are developed. (I want a SlingBox client.)
The MacBook Air is a really nice design. It shows what Apple is capable of pulling off. But, like a supermodel or Paris Hilton, they may nice to look at, but have limited usefulness beyond their outward appearance. You can't upgrade the hard drive, the processor is slower than what you can get on a MacBook Pro or even MacBook, and there are fewer ports to hook devices up to. The Air is the new fashion item for the rich and wannabe famous.
What I found interesting what WASN'T announced:
1) no 10.5.2 updates to fix Leopard bugs
2) no updates to MacBook or MacBook Pro. I REALLY thought those machines would get new slimmer designs and lose some weight (but not as radical as the MacBook Air), while retaining the current electronics.
3) nothing about the Mac Mini and any new updates.
But Steve Jobs did say at the end of the presentation that they still have 50 weeks to go for new announcements, so maybe something will happen with the other products during the year.
Overall, I would say it was an interesting MacWorld, but aside from Time Capsule and the movie rental announcement, there wasn't anything here that will make me buy new hardware right now.

An app that brings all the things I hate together. Lovely. I know advertising is a necessary evil but an app that just displays ads? Biggest WTF of the year. I mean really, who the hell could this be marketed to? People that just enjoy looking at tiny, crappy advertisements? No one is that boring or unproductive.

I think the IPS display makes the screen pop out to people who are near by and then they comment on how nice it looks.

Some adults don't use such words in their everyday life for various reasons. I think it's a personal choice whether you choose to listen to "explicit" music, and I wouldn't assume "everyone has" anything. Obviously, it was rather weird to have that type of language in such as professional atmosphere. I wouldn't expect to see it on MTV (without beeps), much less an Apple keynote presentation.
I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't get "edited" out in the next few days as more people see it.

Man, I always wait till after midnight to check for new music that gets released on Tuesdays. Now that Apple has gone and changed my life in some inconceivable way again, I'll have to wait till this afternoon to get my new album fix from them.

Make a Custom Class with Ghost, problem solved. Hell, equip that same class with the Strela, and not only will the various Choppers not shoot you, but you can then bring it down so it stops killing your team as well.
well you mean ghost pro ... the normal one is useless against that (i already have that layout ;) )
but seriously getting some of the perks to pro is ridiculously difficult while some others can be pro before hitting level 15
.. i have been trying to get ghost to pro for a while now and ironically i'm stuck on destroying an enemy turrent.. which somehow aren't popular at all jsut liek the tomahawk .. while i killed perhaps 30 guys with it i haven't been killed by a single tomahawk yet despite it being perfect for those "we are losing charlie" moments
another point of advice: don't bother with the top MP: it has only a 20 shot clip (opposed to some other MPs) and annoyingly ejects empty rounds right out of the top
having the mp just one slot below but with increased firerate add on (IMHO the best for taking down assault rifle users on short range) and silencer is the way better gun
in general with this being my first call of duty i have to say that my opinion of killing streaks hasn't changed at all ... it still is an invitation for camping in many, many game situations... and some of the attacks are simply ridiculous if you look at the size of some of the maps or their designs: yay for houses with no roofs/glass roofs

It's funny that unions are doing exactly what people are afraid corporations are doing.
But what's even funnier, is that all the while, the unions bring us down. They ruin education, give millions of dollars to crappy candidates that are just going to repay them later by pushing crappy legislation that helps out the unions.
They do little-to-no good for anyone, and are some of the strongest and most corrupt political machines in existence. But people are afraid of big businesses?

Collective bargaining is a legislative privilege granted by friendly law makers in some localities which can be quickly and abruptly eliminated (as you've all just observed.)
How? Without the union, bad teachers would presumably be fired, but how would this raise wages directly or indirectly?
There are a million ways to increase the wages of good teachers. Make the system operate like any good business where the quality employees get promoted and the worthless employees get fired to make room for new ones. Look at the system that was attempted in D.C. which would have allowed teachers to OPT IN to a system which would measure them based on performance for the opportunity to get double the salary, or stay in their current situation. The union (even though there was no down-side) wouldn't even vote on the proposal so that they could maintain the status quo and prevent management from making changes to improve the school system. Who loses out in the end? Students and taxpayers.
Firing incompetent teachers sounds like a great idea, but it doesn't require unions to be disbanded to achieve. The British teachers unions aren't that strong, and still we have huge problems getting rid of poor teachers.
Jail time for strikers is bizarre and totally unacceptable.
Additionally there is no way you can claim that it is a "individual liberty" position to hold to be for jailing strikers.

You're using your "friendly lawmakers" to launch a sneak attack on unions. Don't be surprised when this bites you in the butt.

She isn't. In addition to teaching at a public school, she also teaches at several fine private graduate level universities. Also, she's making tremendous progress on several entrepreneurial ventures as well. She's the type of person any organization would be incredibly lucky to have... smart, hard working and passionate. She loves teaching, but unfortunately to leave your career exclusively up to the public school system and the union atmosphere would mean that even after 20 years of incredibly hard work you'd still be getting paid as the horrible lazy teacher next door who'd only similarity to you is the fact that they've been there for the same 20 years. What a joke. That's why real professionals, talented individuals with a ton to offer, rarely stay exclusively in teaching for their entire career. There's no future in it. What a joke. That's why real professionals, talented individuals with a ton to offer, rarely stay exclusively in teaching for their entire career. There's no future in it. The unions have caused this... their undying focus on 'fairness', their unwillingness to allow the firing of bad teachers, and and their focus on compensation based on longevity are all working together to kill our school systems, that much is certain.
