The iMac and the Mini have been upgraded, does that mean that the MacBook and MBP will follow suit before 12th September, ready for whatever announcement comes then?
i reckon, if they changed all of the core duos to core 2 duos in one go apple would not be able to handle all of the extra orders, so they spread it out a little.

If apple does this right, it would be awesome. A screen similar to the sony ereader for reading and widescreen for movies.

Hmm..
MacBook Air (subnotebook, as in light as...)
MacBook Pro Air Edition.
Air MacBook?
That sounds like something (corny) Steve would come up with, and it matches the posters too.
Sounds like a good possibility to me...

Just read that EMI (the Beatles' label) have received a bid of £2.5bn from an unknown company.
That would make the negotiations easier ;)
---
gulp.
thats a LOTTA cash.
But Im wondering if EMI-APPLE Ltd., despite legal tussles with APPLE computer, probably like the ideas of:
1. twin-named brand association, and
2. how the iTunes store, with its huge market and sales system, is already in place, RIGHT NOW, and could drive the sales of Beatles music up-right now, also, unlike ZUNE, which is still at zero, market wise.
Its been noted that MS has finally just decided to just brazenly copy the iPod/iTunes sales model to the letter-since theyve failed in the past, but they may already too late.
MS doesnt have 'mystique' , 'exclusivity' or 'clue' of Apple seems to have.
(ad line: Listen to APPLE on an APPLE!)
Now, MS could easily afford it (if this rumour is true)
But then, so could Apple-they have a big wad of cash, too-and their collateral: the iTunes store-with a huge sales/marketing/hardware system already in place, could stand to make back a lot of that money QUICKLY-whereas if ZUNE had exclusives to the Beatles-most people, already owning iPods, but checking out ZUNE, (or when they finally got around to buying one), would wonder: "why wont this play on my iPod?" Or "Why can I only listen to a song 3 times?"

There is a very good article in the latest Popular Science (just got it in the mail two days ago -- I assume it is Nov-2002 issue -- when I get home, I'll verify).
The article discusses everything you guys are talking about.
It shows, very clearly, how Mhz and Ghz for benchmarking is not a good idea - it compares AMD to Intel, then throws the PowerPC into the mix.
It's definitely worth a read.

I do think that Apple needs to work harder on App approval, and I believe the best thing for them to do is have a gold certification level for developers who are trusted. Those developers would be allowed to make as many changes to their applications as they wanted without any interference or approval from apple.
that seems like a very good idea, and i assume/hope/surprised if they're not working on something in that area.

Hmm, after updating and using it for a few days I have observed that the fan runs much more often than it used to, simple processes that kick the processor usage to 100% for a few seconds will cause the fans to spin ... while I like the prevention of RSS, I have not experienced it, and now my macbook tends to be louder than usual which is a little frustrating at the library. I have not had much of a heat issue with this laptop before (monitored the temperature) so this is a bit annoying.
But something I can live with.

How much time does it take to switch between OS's when using Parallels?
You're switching to an open window running Windows. It's instant.
It's really about the same as a Remote Desktop Connection window - the Parallels copy of Windows is running completely inside an OSX window. The Windows taskbar is at the bottom of the window, etc.

Oh whatever, I am buying a MBP by the end of this month when I have the cash ready. I could care less if it is the latest one out or not. I am sure that whatever I buy will suit my needs for years to come.
It's nice to see someone with some perspective and isn't complaining daily because an update with speed increases that they'll never even notice hasn't been released yet.

Why'd you get a MacBook Pro 13" if you have the iPad. I would have gotten the 15" or an iMac/Mac Mini in that case...
I'm guessing he got the MBP before the iPad. And, the 13 inch MBP can do a lot more than an iPad, while being more portable than the 15".

Is that why AT&T sold a lot more iPhones that vz last quarter?
Also vz just wants you to go over your cap. More money for them
Check VZW site, VZW charges no overage charges, data is unlimited. no caps no overage charges just unlimited data. WHAT DON'T you understand.
And the VZW throttling post on BGR.com was just a BS warning, NO ONE HAS EVER BEEN THROTTLED! Go the androidforums and you will not find anyone that have ever been throttled!
Now with att try and use alot of data then att will claim you are tethering and automatically switch you to tiered data.
after 2GB , att charges 10 a GB. that can get expensive fast!
I meant when they do put caps on.
By the way I use like 2 gigs a week on AT&T and they leave me alone

We have to raise taxes, and cut our military spending first and foremost. I say cut military before benefits because those benefits are the only thing keeping millions of our people from being third world status poor.

That's the image Apple is trying to put out there.
You've got to admit, you kind of deserve that response, if you going to cite a commercial to back up your argument.
And you and people like you represent how much of the population?
I shall (briefly) ponder the wisdom of your words when I'm putting in a 10-hour day tomorrow on the Mac.
Kudos to you. I could care less.
I had a response all typed up and decided your original statement says more than I ever could to support my side of the argument.
I'm pretty sure it was recent when Dell announced they would preload Linux on some of their computers.
i think that that used to be the case, but no longer. back when w2k and xp was released, linux wasn't ?ready?. for experts, yes, but not normal folks. over the last two years that changed dramatically.. and over the last few years i have seen linux pop up in oddest places, like in an internet -terminals in hotels. previously they ran windows.
looking at features, windows is way behind linux, vista included. and looking at apps, windows doesn't offer anything that linux doesn't, for free. well, maybe games.
For all the features that Linux may have, it doesn't have the software support to be a major player right now. There are some nice programs, that I use everyday on my Linux box, but not nearly enough to replace my XP box at work.
Well I think the phrase significantly improved is a opinion.
It has value, but Apple doesn't buy OSX from itself. The point being, you get OSX when you buy a Mac, just as you get Windows when you buy an OEM PC. Some people seem to be finding a virtue in the latter but not the former, and a problem the fact that Apple has managed to significantly improve the OS five time in same span of years when Microsoft has managed it only once.

Thats a good point! I know Jacko had out bid McCartney on the rights to the Beatles songs but i too wonder who owns them now?
Michael Jackson bought ATV, which owns the Beatles catalog, in 1985, and 10 years later, merged with Sony, creating Sony/ATV Music Publishing. Jackson and Sony co-owned the Beatles catalog. Following Jackson's death, Sony/ATV keeps control of the Beatles' songs.
Plus (i could be wrong) Simon "Money Whore" Cowell has his fingers in Sony who co-own the rights to The Beatles catalogue!?
Simon Cowell has nothing whatsoever to do with the Beatles catalog. He's involved with Sony BMG Music Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment, which are separate and distinct companies from Sony/ATV Music Publishing, which owns the catalog.
Don't quote me on that.
Too late! I already did! :D

When you're married, it's a partnership, and it's no longer a case of "your money" and "her money", but a case of "OUR" money. Once responsibilities are out the way, then personal purchases can be looked at, but unless you're in a job where you have a LOT of disposable income far in excess of what's required to pay the mortgage and many bills, then yes it's only right you make sure you have the money to go out and buy a gadget which, most of the time, only you will use.
I'm fortunate that my wife enjoys using technology, but I still wouldn't go out on payday and just buy a new gadget without at least letting her know I was doing it, and if I spend money on something, it's only fair she does the same ... which means for whatever you spend, you need to double it and again it's only after looking at bills and responsibilities that you can do so.
Good post man. :) You obviously have your priorities straight.
