Here's a work around maybe. Under Systems Preferences > Network > Airport
Click on Configure and then Options...
I wonder if this is a specific to X86 hardware... Does this effect ppc based hardware?
Oh, probably should ask for admin psswd to change networks as well...
The issue is, the computer will automatically connect to a spoofed wireless network. Meaning, they can grab the SSIDs you've ever connected to in your preferred networks list right out from the air, as both OSX and XP broadcast such information. If they find an open network, they can broadcast on their computer as an Access Point with that SSID. A lot of people don't seem to understand this. Theoretically, you could be working on your computer at a non-wifi airport and someone else can come in, see your SSIDs being broadcast by your card, and create a faux wireless network with that access point name. This type of attack has been known for a VERY long time though, I'm surprised this has just come out as soon as it did.

Look! Up in the sky!
Is it a bird?
It's a plane!
No! It's an partially eaten flying apple!
It's landing!
[time passes]
Something's coming out of it!
[gasps and screams of anticipation]
IT'S SUPERMAN!
OMG! He must be using the new iFly! What's that, Superman? It flies better than you?
[Superman smiles and winks, and flies off, presumably to fight crime, but actually to go find Lois]
Introducing the new Apple iFly. Better than Superman.
Wow! I want to fly it over the Atlantic ocean!
Look everyone! An Apple PR rep just stepped out of the iFly! What's that Apple PR rep? It can't fly above water yet? It's a bug that's going to be fixed in a software update?
And you can fill it's 32GB of storage by syncing with iTunes on your Mac or PC? Wow!
Everyone swarm the iFly!
[riot ensues]

I'm just glad they are not trying to run this on the 3G. I can barely keep the phone running as it is. I wish they would come out with a throwback OS for the older phones. Something to stop the constant freezing.
Just a few more months, then maybe an Iphone 5 takes away my pain. :D
Ditto. My poor 3G is one step away from being an ipod only... I hate that Apple has essentially bricked that phone. Mine is in great shape, but barely works after the 4.0 update. Retro would be ideal.

My iBook qualifies and I just went through the process. Website says Apple will send a new battery, then I have to send the old one back. My old one is doing just fine, does anyone know what will happen if I don't send it back? I'd rather have two good batteries, even if one may explode (1 in a million chance).

Every iTunes update, I keep expecting to see this. Tags you can pile on, *in any order*.
Example: I have a song by Joe Blow, a song by Suzy Suck, and a song where they collaborated.
If I add an artist tag "Joe Blow, Suzy Suck", it's one tag. It's not Joe's tag, and Suzy's tag, and it's also not the same as "Suzy Suck, Joe Blow" ... though, to the user, it should be. A search for Suck and Blow should turn up any song that has both artists in the Artists tag[s].
Especially important for Genre tags. Many tunes could be classified as several genres, but if I put Joe's tune down as "Blues Rock", it isn't "Blues" and it isn't "Rock".
I would have suggested tags "like iPhoto's keywords", but I don't like iPhoto's implementation of them. I do like drag and drop tags, though. I guess iPhoto-style tagging would be more helpful than the current system.

I haven't read all the posts in this thread (the MBP discussions are most of what I'm caught up in now  ), but I noticed an interesting article on MacNN that talked about this as well. To paraphrase, it said that when the iTunes TV shows were first made available, Walmart sent back DVDs of Lost, Desperate Housewives, etc., refusing to sell them. Looking on Walmart's site now, though, both Seasons 1 and 2 of Lost are available, both online and in stores (just as an example).
Threatening not to sell movies has a limited impact. I think Walmart is responsible for some 40% of DVD sales (not positive on that number), but if people can't buy DVDs at Walmart, they don't think: "Well shoot, I guess I just won't get this movie." They'll either complain or go somewhere else. This may be tough in communities where Walmart is the only major shopping center, but Walmart can't really blame movie studios when Walmart is the one refusing to sell the product.
I agree with other peoples' posts when they say that Apple's primary movie market will not really affect Walmart's sales (mostly wealthier middle class types who can afford to dump $300 on a streaming media device). I refuse to shop at Walmart for a variety of reasons myself; this just adds to the list.

Finally the truth. I know because I've been using 3G phones since the first day AT&T rolled them out. Call quality was immediately improved as was data transfer speeds. The various phones sold in those years all demonstrated the distinct advantage.
Apple and their biased partners in the blogosphere are the masters of spin.
Don't get me wrong I'm a huge Apple enthusiast, but I'm a bigger supporter of the truth.
Hopefully when the day arrives that Jobs moves on, integrity, ethics and truth will be allowed back into the organization.
What is the truth exactly? I understand what you mean that 3G was more along then some think but I get the impression (and I could be wrong) that you are saying that it is Apples fault for AT&Ts network issues?

I always hear people say, "I don't like the Beatles, but I like this song..."
What does this mean???
Is it me, or are they confused...
I am one of the folks who say that. I am not a fan of the band or group. It might mean I don't like what they might stand for, or their individual ideas so I don't buy every thing they do or did. It usually means that I don't like the sound or style of the bulk of their catalog. An example would be not liking a particular genre of music but finding one song I enjoy out of that genre. I don't like country music as a type but I have a few songs in my library that are country tunes. But I might put all that aside and enjoy one or two songs from an artist that I don't particularly like. I have had artists that I liked so much I bought everything they did only to later look back and say wha??? Why did I do that?

It can cause a lot of problems when people misinterpret or don't understand it. And lots of modern believers do avoid reading the old testament, especially books of the law like Leviticus and Deuteronomy (because they can be hard to understand).
For me personally, I enjoy reading the narratives of old testament figures like Abraham, David, Joshua, Moses, Solomon, Isaac, etc. etc. These people were far from perfect and much of what we learn from them is in taking note of the mistakes they made. It gives me comfort knowing that if God can use them then he can possibly use me despite the numerous mistakes I make.
Then there are the accounts of people like Job and Joseph. These stories provide such great encouragment as you see how they navigated and overcame such great hardship. Reading their stories provides hope.
Wisdom and poetry books like Psalms and Proverbs are also encouraging and easy to read with their straight forward style and memorable sayings.
I'd encourage everyone to read the Bible. Even if you don't believe it is divinely inspired you can still learn from the collective wisdom of what it contains. It seems that the atheist book the OP started this thread about would contain a good collection of human wisdom and knowledge. I don't know about it being representative of the beliefs of all atheist, but it most likely contains good information from the experiences of those who have gone before us. I would like to think that non-believers could view the Bible in much the same way regardless of whether they believe in God.
Great question lee, thanks for asking. :)
I've read it about sixteen times, thanks. ;)

The macbook was hacked in 60 seconds. Why it was hacked or whoose software was responsible is irrelevant. The macbook was HACKED, PERIOD!.
End of story.

The salesman probably won't let you get out of the store without Applecare, a case, and a screen protector for fear of being fired. And while you are there, how is your cellphone treating you? They also have generic batteries 4 packs/$10.
Sorry, its a terrible place to shop and knowing how constrained their inventory with the "hot" phones, they probably won't have any in stock.

I hate Walmart, I always have. they make people think they're so cheap. they really aren't cheap at all. they never have sales.
I wouldn't give a crap if walmart did anything to hurt the film studios. I don't buy movies there anyway because they actually check your ID if its R or unrated. not that I'm not old enough but I sure as hell hate taking my ID out to justify that I'm at least 17. they never have special editions or unrated versions so why the hell does it matter.
STICK TO BEST BUY OR CIRCUIT CITY.
BOYCOTT WALMART
It's appropriate to check identification for age, whether it's movies, music, or video games. What's wrong with doing the right thing?
